How much should I pay neighbor for watering plants?

Anonymous
I just paid my 12 yo neighbor $20 to watch the house for 3 nights - pick up packages, make sure the newspaper and mail were picked up (they were both held, but sometimes it doesn't work), and water outside plants if it didn't rain. She never came in the house though. So I think you should pay $50/week. But check with the parents first, because maybe they don't want their DC to have $300.

It’s not the number of minutes. It’s the daily commitment for 6 flipping weeks.

That’s a daily chore for 42 days.

Think of it that way.

PS - If you don’t pay well/fair, fat chance they will help you again. My kid used to shovel for people and quickly learned who paid well and who was cheap; he never agreed to shovel out the cheap ones again.

This. People saying a kid should do this for free or $5 are insane. You can't even get a Starbucks drink or a kids meal at CFA for $5. If you can afford to travel for 6 weeks, you can be generous here.

The kid is watering plants on days of no rain (and assuming Op is posting locally we all know that weve been getting daily evening thunderstorms).

Op puts a hold on the mail.

So the neighbor kid is there watering on occasion and for like 10 min.

My 14 year old recently did this for a neighbor and was paid $15 per time she went to their house.

$15 for 10 min of "work" ( ie watering a few plants)???
