He has really cleaned up El Salvador.

He certainly has. But at a cost.

Bukele has extended his emergency powers through repeated monthly renewals of the state of emergency since March 2022, enabling anti-gang crackdown at the cost of civil liberties. He also secured an unconstitutional second term in 2024 by manipulating judicial and electoral processes, raising concerns about authoritarianism.

Sound familiar? It turns out people will give away a lot of their rights in exchange for the illusion of law and order and security. It’ll be interesting to see how he holds on to power once he’s “taken care of” the gang problem and the country is “safe.” The El Salvador economy is still not good. GDP growth remains low (1.9% in 2024), public debt is high (84% of GDP), poverty affects 27% of households, and food costs have risen 10.8% since 2022.

It wasn't a functioning country before Bukele. It wasn't safe to go on the streets, run a business, take a bus, etc. It was the murder capital of the world, like living in a war zone. Now the homicide rate has plummeted and it is much lower than the United States. So it isn't the "illusion" of law and order and security. In actuality there now is law and order and security. Most El Salvadorans are going to chose that over being completely terrorized. And who wouldn't?

And the cause of all the gangs and the political situation? Of course the United States who interfered with elections and fought a proxy war in El Salvador.

The United States has celebrated the release and extradition by the Chavista regime of Venezuela of a group of ten Americans who landed in Texas on Friday, including Dahud Hanid Ortiz, the perpetrator of a triple murder in Madrid . The news of this criminal's release was reported by Spanish media, citing a survivor of the crime.

Thanks a lot, Rubio and Trump. What absolutely clowns run this country. I mean Stephen Miller and Russ Vought may be smart and evil, but the rest of them are irresponsible morons.

Make America Safe Again!

Any actual credible U.S. sources for this?

It's just so perfectly in character that liberals are aghast about the murderer being brought back to the U.S. (yes, he should absolutely be extradited to Spain), yet they do everything in their power to keep illegal criminals from being deported. Such performative outrage.

Liar.

No one cares about criminals being deported, unless you are deporting them to a third country and to a place known for violating human rights. (Are you defending our great nation delegating the violation of human rights? We wouldn't allow this on our soil but we'll pay others and look the other way?)

People are opposed to equating illegal immigrants with criminals, as you just did above.

People are opposed to the willy-nilly deportation of law-abiding immigrants who in some cases contribute greatly to their community and Make America Great Again.

People are opposed to the Trump administration taking resources away from ACTUAL criminals, homegrown and even immigrants, in order to make Stephen Miller's quotas by rounding up women, kids, people showing up at their appointments.

People are opposed to immigrants being held in detention centers intended for 1/4 of their numbers, without enough food or water or medical care.

And, yes, people are opposed to inventing lame charges, pretending tattoos are evidence or anything, lying to avoid acknowledging mistakes and the all around clown show that has made our once admired country an absolute laughing stock.

Stop with the Bull$hit.

Careful what you call performative.
