Bukele helped broker a deal bringing home 10 Americans from Venezuela

Anonymous
U.S. special envoy for hostage affairs Adam Boehler called Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele “a good friend” after he helped secure the release of 10 Americans imprisoned in Venezuela in exchange for the return of more than 250 Venezuelans who the U.S. had sent to be imprisoned in El Salvador.
In an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Boehler said the hostage exchange has been “months in the works” and is the result of “a great, unbelievable team, in terms of people on the ground, career people that folks don’t ever hear of” who were “driving this bus really hard back and forth.”

“The reality here is Bukele had — who’s been great — Bukele had a number of people there at CECOT. He made a deal with Venezuela, and then Venezuela released all Americans, and so our portion of that deal was to make sure that all of our boys got home,” Boehler said, referring to the notorious Salvadoran prison known as CECOT.

So we were in charge of which prisoners are allowed to leave CECOT the whole time. Noted.

This is several days old news but I am glad you underlined this. It is worth repeating a thousand times.

Of course we were in charge of the Venezuelans the whole time.

Re: Bukele he is a corrupt authoritarian leader who has undermined all the Democratic institutions of Guatemala, does not care about human rights, and made secret deals with gang leaders. He released some of the absolute worst from prison while they continued to commit massacres, and instead locked up foot soldiers as well as countless innocent people to give the impression of filling up prisons with criminals. The goal of Bukele's deal with Trump when he agreed to lock up the Venezuelans (to give him some credit, he didn't know that the men were not gang members and was shocked to see them) was about silencing some of these gang leaders, imprisoned in the US, who were about to tell the story of his corruption to the world as part of their sentencing. We'll never hear from them again obviously.

So no, Bukele is not a great president and anyone who thinks that is either ignorant or corrupt. Bukele only looks good in comparison to the orange clown running our country.

Look at the people Dear Leader works so hard to bring hom: a guy responsible for three murders

The United States has celebrated the release and extradition by the Chavista regime of Venezuela of a group of ten Americans who landed in Texas on Friday, including Dahud Hanid Ortiz, the perpetrator of a triple murder in Madrid . The news of this criminal's release was reported by Spanish media, citing a survivor of the crime.

Thanks a lot, Rubio and Trump. What absolutely clowns run this country. I mean Stephen Miller and Russ Vought may be smart and evil, but the rest of them are irresponsible morons.

This might encourage Venezuela to take more prisoners.

Looks like Venezuela has also agreed to take back their illegal immigrants.

Not doing this was what caused people to be sent to El Salvador. Trump correctly guessed that Venezuela was just trying to get America to keep their people in America, and he put pressure to get Venezuela to take their gang members back.

Any actual credible U.S. sources for this?

He certainly has. But at a cost.

Bukele has extended his emergency powers through repeated monthly renewals of the state of emergency since March 2022, enabling anti-gang crackdown at the cost of civil liberties. He also secured an unconstitutional second term in 2024 by manipulating judicial and electoral processes, raising concerns about authoritarianism.

Sound familiar? It turns out people will give away a lot of their rights in exchange for the illusion of law and order and security. It’ll be interesting to see how he holds on to power once he’s “taken care of” the gang problem and the country is “safe.” The El Salvador economy is still not good. GDP growth remains low (1.9% in 2024), public debt is high (84% of GDP), poverty affects 27% of households, and food costs have risen 10.8% since 2022.

Ends never justify the means.

There is no excuse for locking up legal asylum seekers indefinitely .

There is no excuse for sending people who have never even been accused of a crime, much less tried and proven guilty, to a concentration camp.

There is no excuse for sending anyone , especially innocents, to a third country.

And last, stop with the gang nonsense. Just stop with the lying.
