Religious telework?

Anonymous
Does this apply to ad-hoc telework or do you need to file a religious RA to use TW for a religious purpose? I was thinking exactly what a poster upthread said-Jewish holidays start the evening before, so being able to TW that day and go straight to services rather than take leave to factor in the commute would help. But does that TW request have to be part of a formal religious RA or can I just ask for TW for this purpose bc it’s for my religious observance? This memo is insane btw

So can Muslims telework on Fridays too in order to make it to Friday prayers? I’m not complaining I am all for anyone teleworking for any reason.

Hmm.. well I was an atheist but now I'm deciding whether to convert to Judaism for Friday telework or Islam for Ramadan telework.

I work with a Muslim person that prays in the office daily. Does that get her full time telework? Do I need to a attend a Friday night service to telework or us just being Jewish enough?

Christian here- how can I take advantage of this. Good Friday and Ash Wednesday are the only things I’m coming up with.

Sorry, most Christian denominations are all about that protestant work ethic and being in the office. You'll have to look elsewhere or just be in the office with the atheists, Hindus, and other Christians.

It specifically mentions fasting as a reason, which would cover Ramadan. I hope this makes people's lives easier!

I am not muslim, but another mainstream faith that fasts for a season.

The point of fasting in my faith tradition is that you carry on with daily life through those40 days, don't complain, and offer up the discomfort of fasting and suffering without changing your daily schedule. Isn't ramadan fasting the same? Fasting with special accomodations to make the sacrifice easier is not the way the fasting is done. Are there any devout muslims here that can affirm or correct?

Basically, if others know you are fasting and are working around you to make the fasting easier and less of a sacrifice, then your aren't doing it correctly.

Are you a protestant?

Catholics have many feast days that practicing Catholics celebrate each year. Mass is required on those days, so if it gets you back into church more often, welcome back.

Hopefully it’s an inroad back to telework for everyone.

Hopefully, it brungs people back to faith and regular church attendance.

You should do both.

This is going to Americanize these traditions where you now work at home while fasting and post your struggles on social media.

Who is we? There are holy days of obligation and days of fasting, at least in the Catholic faith. You only choose to celebrate Easter and Christmas.

There are other holy days of obligation throughout the year. Maybe like five or six that are not on Sundays?

Teams is going to suddenly be full of people wearing religious headwear with blurred background.
