I saw the interviews from the director Gunn. It is another Snow White movie anti USA. Dean Cain even agreed they went woke and changed the tag line. So no thanks we will pass. It would be so nice to have some movies that I am not lectured to.

Guys, Dean Caine is loopy. His is not a voice to trust.

I get that yes, some
Poster just don't like the movie, but so many of you are right wing trolls without a brain to make your own opinion.

Exactly.

Henry Cavill best looking Superman - EVER!

I disagree. Christopher Reeve was one of the most beautiful men I have ever seen. That chiseled face, the beautiful eyes, etc. Just gorgeous. His son looks so much like him, too.

I think Brandon Routh was actually pretty close. When I saw his movie, I thought they had purposely gone looking for someone who very closely resembled Reeve.

Well, I disagree. Henry Cavill is better looking than Reeves, whose lips were too thin, and eyes too small to be really good looking.

Cavill has a much more chiseled defined face. Reeves features were to pointy.

And yes, I realize that I am objectifying a dead man.

It reviewed very badly and no thanks.

No it wasn't. It was reviewed and well-received by the NYT, WP, WSJ, Vanity Fair, etc. You must not read. Don't believe ANYTHING you hear on Fox News.

Lol.
WSJ ripped it to shreds. Even the comment board has people passing on it or buying another movie ticket and doing 2nd as Superman and walking out.

Too bad the first half nothing happens but bruised and battered “Superman.”’

WSJ liked it. See today's WSJ..reviewed by Be.Fritz@wsj.com

I think those movies are catering to a global crowd, so they don't want to appear like "USA is THE best", cause let's be real, it isn't anymore.

Some foreign films from the UK, for example, have Americans as the bad guys.

Or it’s just straight up anti-American. Superman was beat up and doing nothing the first 2/3s of the movie. The CGi dog was the only thing somewhat interesting, the Midwest parents are mocked and made to look like idiots, the last bit of the movie Superman finally does something- saves one girl.

Yawn. Attempted politics at every corner. Double yawn.

The hero being beat up on and then winning in the end is actually very American, or used to be. Everyone likes the story of the underdog. Americans are obsessed with "we are the best, and can beat up anyone". That's not interesting, or a good look.

Even in the Avengers movie, they get beat up on in the beginning. That's the whole point of movies. A superhero always winning is a boring movie.

The midwest parents being mocked is a stereotype, to be sure, but doesn't MAGA stereotype all Californians as uber liberals or Hollyood types, even though the vast majority of Californians are not Hollywood types, and a significant number of them voted R?

Superman is an immigrant. You do realize that he was not born in the US, and he didn't have papers, right? So, he was a actually an illegal alien.

Pass.

Sick of animated figures sci fi non-action action movies.

Would rather watch F1 or mission impossible again. And the lead actors do their own stunts not CGI.

They took truth justice and the American way out. That is woke. Very Woke. The producer is super liberal and there is no denying that. Hollywood has to stop treating public like naughty kids. Sheesh.

We have different preferences. Which is fine.

There is just something about HC that doesn’t appeal to me. I can’t explain it. Just like I’m not into Pedro Pascal lookswise (although I do like a lot of other stuff about him).

We’re all allowed our preferences

This PP gets it. Part of the problem with Superman is that he has gotten so powerful over the years, that is hard to make interesting stories. He’s essentially a god. Superman Man of Steel addresses this by making the villain other kryptonians, bvs makes the bizarro/doomesday, and then JL he’s mostly dead until he fights a New God.

So if you are making a Superman movie, it’s all about the villain. I think they also de powered him a bit here, for narrative effect. Lex is always entertaining when given the right tools — but even then they pull in an Ultraman/Bizarro super powered individual (the black suited guy).

The story is very boring if he flys in and wins in act I. You need stakes and tension.

Yep. Not woke. Not even in the original comic. They changed it when these superhero movies reached global markets
. that's not woke. That's capitalism.

I loved Lois and Clark and I'm sure he was very intelligent and talented, but look up his recent statements. Loopy.

82% rotten tomatoes.
More boring than sitting through church.

Awwww...

Did you just duck duck go that so you can participate in the discussion?

I know you misunderstood.

"According to Rotten Tomatoes, Superman is sporting a "fresh" rating as of this writing, with 82% of critics giving it a positive review. 231 critics have rated it "fresh," while 51 consider it "rotten.""
