Are other Hispanics worried?

Don't hang out in Home Depot parking lots, don't join a gang, don't live in a homeless encampment dominated by illegal immigrants and you'll never even see an ICE officer.

I disagree. I’m not even Hispanic and I’m worried. Trump’s already fiddling with the (Constitutional) rules for citizenship and talking about sending American citizens to foreign prisons.

I think Trump, like most dictators, doesn’t really care about most issues, they’re just tools to secure the only thing he actually cares about - his own power. (Remember when to secure aid to Ukraine, Biden negotiated a deal with Congressional Republicans to crack down on illegal immigration and Trump nixed it because he’d much rather exploit the problem for his personal political gain than to address it.) Sure, he’s happy to deport Hispanic immigrants. He can use those deportations to claim he’s fulfilling his campaign promises and solidify his power, and he certainly doesn’t care about the individual lives that are being devastated, because they have nothing to do with him. However, ICE is struggling to meet his arrest quotas, we’re running out of “the worst of the worst”, and yet he’s starting to expand the countries he’s sending people to and building new prison camps in America. Immigrant or not, dictators never have trouble finding people to arrest, and “the worst of the worst”, whatever it originally meant, is usually reduced to anyone that’s the tyrant imagines might be a threat to what’s most important, his own power.

FAFO. The trend of Hispanics voting for Trump republicans is one of the scariest things I’ve seen. Demographically they’ll be the most populous voting block soon and yet they’re voting against their interests.

Who are you to know their interests?

You’re an over-educated white person who arrogantly claims to know the needs of Latinos better than they know their own.

Disgusting bigotry.

I'm watching them being deported. I'm watching them being abducted. I'm watching them crying over losing family members. I'm pretty sure everyone knows that isn't in their best interests.

And it's best not to throw around words like "bigotry" when y9ou clearly don't know what it means.

A good friend who is a white and British and who has lived in the US over 30 years with a green card is rushing to finally apply for his US citizenship--just in case. He is not an alarmist by nature and is very pragmatic in general.

If White immigrants are nervous, imagine how nervous Hispanic ones are.

There it is. Another white person who feels entitled to tell people of color what’s best for them. You probably call yourself “progressive”.

DP.. I am Asian American, and I fear for this country and think Hispanics and Asians should worry. When ICE is now going to review every naturalized citizenship for the smallest of errors to revoke your citizenship, yea, that worries me.

DH is a white European immigrant, and he is even aghast at this. Melania and her family will be protected, I'm sure.

I also used to be a R.

? I’m white and the daughter of an immigrant who came here after WW2. She is appalled that she was born under Hilter, fled and will most likely die watching fascism take over America. How can we not have learned this lesson already?
