NP here. We have stayed at the Residence Inn as well. Could be just what you are looking for, OP.

Sorry - forgot to include we had a good experience with https://www.ivylettings.com/ in London

With 5 people?

No. Not with 5 people.

But it is a very large hotel, and there are a lot of room options.

Care to share a link? I keep hearing horror stories about air bnb - there’s even a recent one on DCUM right now so I’m nervous about them and prefer the reliability of a hotel.

Go with a hotel.

Missing the nuance - if it was a simple 2 person party, I'd agree but 5 implies 2+ rooms and short term rentals are often far superior with this grouping.

Thank you! I looked it up and there seemed to be lots of reviews mentioning issues with air conditioning and other maintenance concerns. Will keep in mind, though. Looks like there are also residence inns near London Tower but those weren’t the area we had planned on. -OP

We stayed there last July and there were no issues with AC. My only real complaint was that the breakfast was really not good. But there’s a tesco next door and a nice breakfast place a block or so away.

It’s not a hard rock any more. It’s a Cumberland or something now.

We stayed at the Hilton Tower of London. Our king + sofa bed room ended up being basically a suite with 2 rooms and 2 bathrooms. It was fantastic! We only had one kid with us, but we could have easily fit 3 kids in the sofa bed room.

The reason OP asked this specific question is because it's very rare in the UK/EU for hotels to allow occupancy by 5 people in a room. If you go to the Doubletree by Hilton London Tower, and the Hilton London Bridge, neither allows you to book a room with 2 adults and 3 kids. They both have a maximum occupancy of 2 adults and 2 kids.

If you'll have a week, try this agency: https://www.aplacelikehome.co.uk/.

Np. I love the suggestions! We are a family of 5 too.

Sarcasm - I love the person at the beginning that was like “that’s hard to do in London. Be 4 people instead.” Lol. As if the op doesn’t know it’s already a challenge.
