2027 spring break in March. Why?

I just wanted a February break. I would love a kind of year round schedule with just July being off and starting in August. Just more frequent breaks in between. But DCPS would never.

This is why NOT to have PUBLIC school spring break based on Easter or Passover. If you want it based on Passover go to a Jewish school. If you want it based on Easter go to a Christian school. It makes sense in those schools to tie it to those holidays not in PUBLIC schools!

We could also start the new school year in January. Like I said before, harvest is kind of a funny thing to plan a school year around.

It's not based on the harvest, it's based on the HOTTEST weather of the year. The less school in late June-late August the better.

Ah yes, it makes sense with all the time outdoors kids spend at school. I saw a school that gives the minimum of 20 minutes a day of recess. 20-30 min outside is nothing, so no it’s not the weather.

I created a thread on Montgomery County Public Schools about spring break being moved away from Easter. Apparently they like to lock it to Easter since they are required to close on Good Friday and Easter Monday and still require 180 days.
