Wow! I never thought I'd live to see the day that Caltech has grade inflation.

As at Caltech are hard-fought. If many Caltech students can earn them, then more power to them. I bet the average would be even higher if they took MIT or Princeton courses.

The article doesn't mention grade inflation, as it is defined elsewhere. There are factors involved: the admissions did a better job of accepting students who can handle the core, the course drop dates are later in the semester, etc. The average GPA is still 3.3. There have only been 13 students in the college's history who have ever secured a 4.0 GPA.
