Anti-ICE protest at Blair

Controlled, legal immigration used to be a LEFT wing position that protected the welfare state and the wages of the working class.

Uncontrolled, illegal immigration is a lovely situation for corporations that want to pay slave wages with no safety guarantees to workers and zero benefits and zero job stability. I think every so-called "progressive" on this board needs to think about the consequences of the position they're advocating for here.

It is June 2025. Legal US residents are being kidnapped off the streets by masked ICE agents. The government is inventing "evidence" of gang affiliation against folks with pending asylum claims and throwing them into Salvadoran prisons. Two days ago, federal agents were caught on camera viciously beating a peaceful protester. A journalist exercising reporting on ICE was targeted and shot with "non lethal" weapons. Yesterday two cars full of federal agents rammed a car full of US citizens, held a toddler and pregnant woman at gunpoint, and then fled the scene when they realized they had been mistaken.

No one on this board is advocating for fully open borders. We are advocating for ICE to be held accountable, to follow the US Constitution and established laws, and to follow the numerous court rulings at this point calling for due process.

We have no clue if he was in the country illegally. Many many US citizens have been detained over the past four months, and many people with valid residence visas have been kidnapped and removed from the country.

As for why your tax dollars should pay for the education of undocumented immigrants (which again we don't even know is the case for this student), the answer is simple - because the law says so.

"federal agents were caught on camera viciously beating a peaceful protester"
I can imagine this happening today
