Does your team do IM at Time Trials (NVSL)?

Nvsl team that doesn’t do IM at time trials.

We do IMs at B meets and one dedicated IM carnival meet. The IM carnival is great because although it is with about 6 other teams it is still a relatively quick meet because there is only one event and only the swimmers who are able to swim an IM.

Because there are so few opportunities to swim that (B meets = STORMS) and summer swim should be about the kids?

Summer swim is about the kids.

Because winter swim isn’t about the kids? What do you even mean by this? If you’re going to support an argument, do so without making asinine statements.

IM is swam at NVSL Divisionals - having an opportunity at Time Trials guarantees swimmers a time to use. We had one year that there was one opportunity in the season to swim IM at the B meet. This was prior to adding it to Time Trials. The reason there were no opportunities all had to do with storms. And the one opportunity was not ideal because they rushed it in because of impending weather.

It is BS to have an event at the "Championship Meet" but not give kids a real opportunity to swim it.

So your kid had an opportunity to swim at before divisionals? Just checking.

Different poster, but yes, once chance at 10 pm at night compared to kids who swam their events 5- 10 times that summer. It’s so unfair if IM is your event. I don’t know about your kid, but swimming so late at night after multiple storm delays does not equal a best time - not even close.

But doesn’t that put everyone on the team in the same position? It’s not more or less fair to anyone on your team.

Another NVSL pool here that doesn’t do IM at time trials. We do, though, have a B meet every summer where we start with IM so kids get a chance to swim it fresh.

IMs are my kid’s best events. Your issue is that whomever is coordinating your B meets is doing it wrong. IM should be swum first at a minimum of one B meet.

If your B meets end at 10:00, you are also doing it wrong. A meet swimmers don’t need to take up space in B meets just to get a time in their worst event. Growing up if you placed in an A meet, you weren’t even allowed to swim in a B meet.

Our coaches would not want that. They are looking for times for A meet and don't care about IM.

Also the little kids need to go to bed.

If your coaches don’t care about IMs, they don’t care about your swimmers.

The little kids need to go to bed, got it. That’s why you swim IM first at one B meet. There should be 6 other B meets opportunities without an IM delay.

NVSL team, we did IM today. Yeah the meet was long but at least the sun came out. Great for the kids to get a chance to post a time if they want.
