Do you know people who like to ‘speak their mind’ and ‘keep it real’ with others but flip when the tables are turned?

OP, consider the possibility that you weren't "keeping it real" so much as "being a jerk". A lot of people "speak their mind" with "brutal honesty" and what that distills to is actually more like "run off at the mouth and let their unchecked, unconsidered emotional reactions fly".

Yep.

This "run off at the mouth" comes in two forms. One, you get morons passive-aggressively using "humor" as a thin venner for rudeness. Next, the same morons use "honesty" for a different venner. Both morons trying to say something rude indirectly without owning up to it.

Please call these people out about this type of behavior.
