Your math stinks. 23% from 5 boroughs, but 77% from outside tri-state area? That means there are zero students from the tri-state area who are not from the five boroughs, which I am 100% sure is not true. What industry is your child working in? In most financial services roles, VPs are nobodies. They have no hiring authority and are not people whose coattails you want to ride. Your child will hopefully hit VP before age 30. Don't mean to be sour grapes. Other info is interesting and I'm glad your child had such a great experience. Fordham is a very good school. But you dilute your value with incorrect info. |

I’m a grad from Florida. It is not a commuter school unless you regard city schools as such. Columbia and NYU have similar percentages.
I also find the inclusion of Villanova and the absence of Georgetown interesting in the “didn’t get into…” comment. I recall Villanova being easier to get into when I applied to college (did not apply to Villanova) and I thought the number of classmates I had who mentioned Villanova was one of the schools they got into confirmed this. I got the impression Fordham had the better reputation in south Florida so maybe there’s pockets of regional appreciation that regards Villanova very highly? I did know a few kids that did apply to Georgetown and were waitlisted/rejected/it was too expensive etc. so interesting that you didn’t mention that |
| Fordham is a very solid Jesuit university with all the benefits that come with a NYC city location. Our student really liked the Rose Hill campus after a recent tour and it’s on the list as a target. We took the subway there from midtown, which gave a good feel for what to expect as far as getting around and the Bronx location. |
don’t think delby has sent a kid to Fordham in at least five years. They have a direct pipeline to ND, and then the rest of the graduating class is at top 20s or WASP for sports. Chaminade is probably closer to Fordham target for applicants |
The Jesuits don’t really like Benedictine kids so that makes sense. Lots of issues with them being spoiled and privileged so they don’t fit the Jesuit mold. |
or, more likely, delby kids have much much better options! |
| A different CC told us to avoid it - very little merit aid if any, expensive to attend, an expensive place to live. He said unless kid was going directly into Finance, for which it is well placed, and you're already rich, forget it. |
Fordham gives full merit scholarships for NMSF, I believe. |
Delbarton’s school profiles shows that they had 3+ students from the classes of 2021-2024 enroll at Fordham. |

My friend sent his son there. We aren't from the tri state area. He believes that kids should go to school that has a campus and is in the city. Fordham is a great example.

There is also a Metro North station right outside the campus, so for kids to whom the subway is a bit daunting, especially late at night, you can take Metro North, the suburban commuter train, directly into Grand Central in about 20 minutes. Plus, of course, there's the Ram Van. I have no affiliation with Fordham but attended an on campus event there a number of years ago. Rose Hill campus is beautiful, just beautiful. Really surprised by the football stadium. Not what I expected in the Bronx. |
Seriously? Moving from a pretty campus that is close to all NYC has to offer to go hours north to Ithaca?? Has he found Cornell an improvement? Most dc would probably prefer fordham! |
What’s WASP for sports? |
That's ludicrous. Both you and the poster you are responding to need to get a grip. |

There is a free school bus between Bronx and Manhattan campus so kids can go to NYC easily as well as subway, Manhattan College also in Bronx is popular.
Btw that is a very safe part of Bronx by Botanicals Gardens and Zoo. I went to St. John’s in Queens and had friends at Fordham. Also a few bars/Restaurants by campus kids go to |
