I read this but didn’t listen to the audiobook. It was great. I did listen to Viola Davis’s book, and she is the narrator for that. Highly recommend! |
Okay this one is really off the wall but is honestly one of the best books I’ve read, and is incredibly insightful about Russia and Russians in the 20th century, in addition to being just a fun read:

Was about to nominate this one. I know he's controversial, but since I didn't see the movie, I enjoyed Hillbilly Elegies. It's an insider's record of Appalachian upbringing. |
Demon Copperhead, The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek, and The Giver of Stars are all books I gave 5 stars to. They are also about Appalachia, but fiction. |
Much less highbrow but I enjoyed rob Lowe’s stories I tell my friends. |
This is a great book! I lived in Ukraine and it was also really insightful about life there, given shared history/culture. |
I loved this one. |
Wifedom by Anna Funder. The story of Eileen Blair, the wife of George Orwell. Great for book clubs. Some love it, some don’t like it. |
Bloodlines / Tracy Yokas
