Why are so many people off work today?! It’s not Memorial weekend, what’s going on?

Only SUCKERS work on Fridays, hahahhaaa.

Yeah I went to the gym and garden center but got a sh@t ton between 8am-11:30am

DH’s paralegal refused to do a 30 minute task for him at 3:30 despite not having a reason (like other work) and not being on PTO. She will not be long for the legal world if working at 3:30 on a Friday is beneath her. Maybe she can go work for one of you.

I had to drive from Bethesda to Staunton, VA today at 8 am and there was zero traffic. So nice but surprising.

Yes traffic on 81 south was a nightmare and I paid $400+ for a 1 night stay in budget motel. It normally would have been $85 a night but it beat the $700 a night for the Holiday Inn up the road.

It was all worth it though. What fun to see all the happy young people and their proud families.

And where is 81 south?

I was a paralegal and had a weekly meeting every Friday from 2 to 4 pm for a case. It was rough. I was so thrilled the day I gave notice that I was done being a paralegal forever.

Sounds like she got into law school or something as she is checked out.

Not PP but I think she’s referring to Virginia Tech.

I’ve learned that very few people actually work on Fridays anymore…and it’s only getting worse as the weather gets nicer and the chaos fueled by this administration pushes people to their limits. (Personally, I find the lack of resilience both sad and annoying. After all, these people are being paid to do a job.)

Anyone at your office still schedule and show up for meetings on Fridays? Those are the people who actually work. The ones who adopt fake policies for their teams banning Friday meetings (for quiet hours to “work” and “catch up”) are low hanging fruit when it comes time for RIFs.

I don’t care if employees work from home, but why are you under the impression you don’t have to be responsive to your boss during working hours?

Apparently they are setting “boundaries” to preserve their mental health.

I can’t tell you how many people in my org are ramping up therapy or going to HR seeking intermittent FMLA or STD for stress, etc.

It’s sad and frustrating (as a supervisor).

And it’s particularly irritating when it’s employee who lead teams and earn big paychecks.

Tip: just get used to the fact that people aren’t really working on Fridays.
