Most "children's" vitamins are just gimmicks. 3-5 vitamins/minerals and nothing else. Get a good one that contains all the vital ones, if using one.

What’s a good gummy one for a preschooler?

No, multivitamins are a scam. If bloodwork shows a deficiency, you treat that issue. Otherwise you're just making expensive urine.

Healthy varied diet covers all needs.

My kid is 8 and we have never once done bloodwork. Is this routine?

My dentist and pediatrician said to avoid the gummy ones.

I used to give Vit D drops back when we drank unfortified milk. Now we drink the store bought grass milk that has A and D added. I give a Renzo's Picky Eaters chewable. Full dose is 2 tablets a day. I give 1 tablet maybe 2-3x/week just to help cover our bases. He's usually a good eater, but we do go through busy periods where we eat cheeseburger dinners or pancake lunches a little too often. After sports once a week or so he gets a protein shake. Kid is 8.

Our pediatrician doesn’t start routine bloodwork until 16 or 17.

I understand that gummies aren’t good for the teeth, but I have a hard time believing any child has ever ended up with cavities specifically because of gummy vitamins.

Yes, multis with fiber

Yes , I give them those gummies as well as a calcium pill. Because they don’t drink milk and don’t like dairy.

It was required when my kid started school in DC, to check for lead.

But that's great that you've never had an issue that would require bloodwork! If your kid had a health problem, the doctor would have recommended it, and it might turn up a deficiency that you might treat with a specific vitamin/ mineral. Typical kids do not need a multivitamin, unless their parents let them subsist on a diet of chicken nuggets or something.

Never gave my kids vitamins. They are now 17 and 20 and appear to be fine lol.

Also this helps athletes build joint strength. Our DD had growing/ joint pain issues, but has been pain/ injury free with D&K2 vitamin combo.

Here’s a Youtube short with a pediatrician listing 5 types of she is recommending parents avoid. Gummy vitamins are #1 on her list (which makes it the last one in the video - about 1 minute in).

I give my kids the Costco gummy vitamins. But if they were to start selling the Flintstone vitamins, I’d be right on those for me!
