Someone who looked like a vagrant stopped me in a store and I scowled at him. He said "Your skirt is stuck behind your purse and your butt is showing." OMG!

This is astute.

I trust my neurosurgeon. I want someone operating on my brain to be Dr. X. I prefer them to be arrogant because they are at the top of the field of neurosurgery.

I work in LE. People lie all the time, about everything. I fact check and verify everything.

I don't trust LE. I've seen first hand how terribly they can investigate an incident, immediately focusing in on a suspect (who turned out to be a victim), and then slandering the person in press releases with bogus charges that were later dismissed (not without spending thousands in legal fees). They gave zero f's about determining what actually happened.

That's not even getting into how they do not pro-actively police any situation. They neither serve or protect.

You people can be obnoxious with your lack of trust. My neighbor in LE wanted to know why I was traveling to a town an hour's drive away. First of all, he made it his business to know I was traveling to that town? That is BEYOND bizarre. He was prepared to believe I was up to no good, but didn't investigate enough to know I was traveling to that town because my MIL lived there and I was helping her out. Yikes.

All MAGAS.

People who come on too strong. Just people who are overly friendly, ask too many personal questions, assume a higher level of friendship/intimacy than seems appropriate for how long we've known each other, etc.

But also people who are very cold upon meeting -- anyone who behaves jealously or is ultra-standoffish when you first meet them, and forces you to really work to earn their trust.

This is based on experience. I used to be easily flattered by the first sort of person and feel challenged to earn the good favor of the second. Now I understand both dynamics are dysfunctional.

Having “problems” is not the same as being untrustworthy. Plenty of my professional colleagues over the years have been sociopathic liars and cheats. You are just shrouding your classism with rationalizations.

Weird.

I don’t trust anyone like you, with an obvious derangement syndrome traced to fixation with Trump.

Yes, anyone who dislikes your dumb, criminal or a dictator is “deranged” 🙄 classy.
