Our teen broke the mirror recently, and luckily it was just the mirror. We bought a replacement and glued it on, we did not need to replace the entire mirror housing/base, which would have needed wiring for electric heat and turn signals.
Definitely under $50 v closer to $1,000 |
And when backing out, don't turn the wheel. |
It seems like a pretty Common newer car Feature. You hit a button and they go in and out. My DD always puts the mirrors in when she parks in the garage. It’s a nice feature. |
NP here. I back into my garage all the time. It's safer than driving in and then having to back out into the street. |
Like in that Mazda commercial where a woman backs out of her drive and almost gets hit by oncoming traffic |
Second day for me. |
Look online fir the part and fix it yourself! |
Why blame yourself? Isn’t this Trump’s fault? |
Depends where the kids are coming from. |
| Play backing in games, win backing in prizes. |

Op, this happens. Take it to a body shop to understand the options. You may need a new door depending exactly where the break is. Ask me how I know (it was an.edx).
If it is just a mirror, not such a big deal. If it is larger z you may need/want to go through your insurance to fix it (considered an accident) |
What’s so safe about driving past your driveway, stopping - in the street - then backing up - in the street - into your driveway? I bet drivers on your street just love you. |

Op here. The dealership gave me a $683 estimate. I've stopped backing into the garage; weirdly, pulling in seems to give me more space getting in and out. I can't figure out what the difference is, but it seems more spacious.
Also, to the person who said not to turn the steering wheel when pulling out, you are spot on. I've been driving for 20 years, and didn't know this. |
| Look for mirror replacement videos on YouTube. Order part yourself. See if you can do it. |
| I had a mirror knocked off and my DH just replaced it himself with a replacement from Amazon. |
