That's the exact mindset that leads to heat deaths. Bravo

Actually Doctor, it's how one trains and manages the conditions that elevates or lowers risk factors.
Otherwise millions all over the world would die everyday from activities in heat.

Team made RL playoffs, so will pick back up with 3X week trainings in May after HS season through mid-June. Then will start fall training July 28 as have pre-season events in August two weekends before Labor Day.

So you're pro killing kids! Of course this is absurd, but so is your argument. How you perform in heat/wind/cold/rain etc will be different for everyone. Heat will actually kill people.

While I generally think kids are fine with 7 or 8pm practices during July and August, I think it is also accurate that weather is becoming less suitable in this area. What was normal and safe 10 years ago, may no longer be. I stopped sending my kids to ang outdoor day camps because there are far too many red level days and the last time we participated like 3 summers ago, two camps had to cancel because they had no back up plans and it wasnt safe.

Missing because of travel is annoying, but more often we are home and happy to have an evening activity. Especially as kids age. By high school they'd rather be home working and playing soccer at night than visiting family or going to the beach.

I had totally forgotten over the course of the long cool winter/spring about heat danger and was actively annoyed with my child this weekend when he was dragging on field and I assumed it was a lack of grit/fitness.

I didn't say anything though and when we were chatting after the game he mentioned that he was experiencing x,y,z which were all symptoms of heat exhaustion. Even before that I was annoyed at the coach for not taking him off or moving him back but now I'm super annoyed both and the coach and at myself.

The rapid return to hot weather playing threw me off. He'll train and improve over the course of the summer like every summer.

US Soccer also takes this seriously - https://learning.ussoccer.com/articles/hip/article/heat-guidelines

Not to get too political but this is a very MAGA response and yes my wife is Dr (which probably scares TF out of them) and I'm not quite sure how giving practical advice should be construed as a problem. But i'm sure my kid is just "soft" (she still plays in that crap, but it would be optimal to be in say San Diego).
What a moron

You all realize their are many places a lot hotter and humid than the DMV, and they've figured out how to handle playing/training in the heat in summer. I'll give you a hint - it does not involve shutting down for months because its too hot.

Also knew a guy (good soccer player) who grew up in Norway above the Artic Circle. I once asked him did they still play/practice outside when it was below freezing? His response was "of course otherwise we would only train like two months a year".
