Are more farmers, small business owners, cargo and construction trade people turning on Trump?

She had a small business she started out of her garage in 2022. It quickly boomed and she outgrew her space. She rented a warehouse and has been based out of there for a few years now. Doing great sales wise.

Right now, her operations are on pause, but she's told us in the family that unless there's a total tariff reversal, she'll be permanently closing.

Her tariff bill increased from around $10k to almost $200k.

-So that'll be her and her partner out of jobs.
-The warehouse landlord out a tenant because their 3-year lease is up in July and she's given notice that she can't renew. This location was built in late 2019 and sat empty until she came long. The other units in the park are also empty.
-Staff will be out of jobs.

Sorry, but no. Nothing was raised that amount. She’s either buying more product, or lying. You choose.

DP. Tariffs are tricky.

Check out this tariff bill from a Reddit user. Previously, they were paying a 2.5% aluminum tariff of $84.50 and Trump term 1 25% China tariff of $845 in tariffs on goods of $3380. In the midst of the new Trump tariffs, they paid another 25% trump term 2 China tariff of $845, a 20% Trump term 2 aluminum tariff of $676, and narrowly missed the additional 125% tax which would be another $4225. So this person’s tariff bill would have gone from $860 to $5700.

Actually with the 145% on things manufactured in China, there are some staggering numbers.

Or, occam's razor, you have no idea because you aren't in business and are not paying attention to details.

Well, that's not a very informed position.

This is quite literally the reason we have this clown car administration again. So many uninformed voters who have doubled down on being uninformed because the alternative is to be an east coast elite I guess? So they continue to vote against their own interests and we all suffer.

There is absolutely no good out come to an artificial trade war, nor is their a good out come to blindly and arbitrarily cutting fed jobs and yet they still support this dumpster fire. It’s getting old living at the whim of people who refuse to educate/inform themselves.

This is the type of privilege that distorts the perceptions of upper-middle class people when they try and tell lower-middle class people how they should think. Laborers don't go on big summer vacations.

People in middle class, whether in the low end or high end, go on vacation. No one said big summer vacations. It might be a beach cabin for a week and going somewhere close for long weekends.

Really? NO good can come from cutting jobs in the federal bureaucracy? If only the voters were better INFORMED they would agree? How’d the Department of Education do over the last half century with trillions of dollars spent? Any improvement in educational outcomes? No? Are you SURE we can’t cut any of those jobs? Lol.

I don't think so.

Trump doesn’t care about farmers. He doesn’t eat crops.

DOGE has cut food inspectors, drug inspectors, firefighters, cyber security, as well as banking regulations. 2008 wasn't that long ago, was it?

No good can come of these cuts. They are purely harmful to Americans.

You realize that education outcomes at the local level are the responsibility of local school boards and local schools, right? The US department of education administers FAFSA and funding for special needs students, standards for teacher certification, and national data and almost nothing to do with local education standards, local hiring, local school boards and local schools.

Np here, but “blindly and arbitrarily” are the key words you must have missed. Everyone in government and education is all for improvement. But the way this admin has taken an ax to everything with no thought process whatsoever is mind-boggling. This is anti-efficiency. For example, dh is a fed. In his office, these past few months have been the most inefficient and unproductive in his entire 30 year career. So much confusion and contradiction. They don’t know what they can and can’t do. They don’t know what funding they have. They would have been happy to work with the admin to improve efficiency. But nobody asked. They just randomly cut their newest, most promising employees who were also the lowest on the pay scale. Meanwhile, their lowest performers who have been around for decades and higher on the pay scale are safe. Make it make sense.

I own a business and I am well aware of the Tariff rates. Nothing went up 2000 percent, not even close.

Doubtful. Republicans like to buy up everything they can and find a way to make more money off of it. When farmers foreclose, snakes will buy them out then rent their land back to them for more money.

Many people believe professional wrestling is real too. I bet the overlap between the two groups is huge.

Actually, the Venn diagram is a perfect circle. It’s all about completely suspending logic and functioning brain cells.
