It was about making sure that qualified women and brown and poor people could succeed in life without discrimination or undue barriers. Because it hurts me to see this administration wreaking havoc on our nation's public health, foreign policy and competitive edge in the name of DEI.
Because I care about women and people of color and know that there is a long history of people getting denied opportunities they because of discrimination.
Because I know that women have different health issues from men and that different ethnicities are more affected by certain diseases.

No it's not. It's making share that people don't get unfairly discriminated against or have poorer opportunities in life (including poorer public health) because they're female or have a different colored skin. Don't call the NIH when your loved one is having issues with childbirth, ovarian cancer, sickle celled anemia or any number of the research grants being threatened by these new grant rules.

+2 These new grant rules for NIH have been around in draft form for over a month now and they're catastrophic for scientific research. It's like this admin wants to move us back to the Dark ages.
