Yes. This reminds me of how Reagan and California was all for 2Amendment until the Black Panthers marched on the state capitol with long guns. California, and then Governor Reagan, promptly created the first gun control laws in the country. Then, guns were meant for whites only, not Blacks, so they had to nip that shiit in the bud. Now, the right erroneously believe they are the only ones with weapons. Okay, let’s hope and pray it doesn’t come a time they find out their error. |
I’m wondering if Bitcoin might be as well. It’s holding up, for now. It seems to have decoupled from stock market declines, which may indicate wider adoption has taken hold and it’s a safe hedge against inflation. For sure, gold is the better bet for now. However, all mine is in ETFs so not sure how safe that is overall, but who knows. |
We only have a few ways out whether Trump stays POTUS or gets either impeached or dies because GOP is still in charge for the next few years.
Either things get so bad even the billionaires revolt against the status quo to change the current financial chaos which I don't see happening- there's too much money in it for them regardless, something happens internally within govt where structures and processes get changed to disallow continuation of current ways and Trump from any freedom without a second look which again I'm not sure will happen given how weak Dem leadership is, things get worse but aren't still bad enough that the majority of us can withstand things for the next few years if the administration - that while things may not be great they maybe have enough fluctuations from bad to not so great, it's manageable - this is what I think most likely. Or the last scenario and worst case is more of a violent revolt of people who given lacking conditions on a number of fronts, see more domestic strife. Whether it's truly a revolution I have to admit I doubt for reasons mentioned - I don't know enough people care or are motivated enough to act in any interest except self interest and I'm not sure people would revolt for country to make it better, only if provoked. That could still be a real result of Trumps admin of course as he likes to set up fights against people but I just don't know if his motivation is to raise a revolution - I think he wants to reform the status quo and he's doing a hell if a job so far, unsure anyone can truly stop him, even any kind of revolution as he remains in charge. |

The billionaires gave him a little over 250 million dollars for his inauguration and library fund. I’m not sure we can count in them to do the right thing. But the billionaires will find a way to make us ordinary citizens pay the price while they abscond to their bunkers or international homes to wait it out. |
This would be the shortest revolution ever. People here would be on the losing side. Of course Democrats have guns, but they don't stockpile ammunition like Republicans. Empty guns are hammers and clubs. |
It would not be Dems v Reps. Why do you think it would be? |
You know nothing |
I doubt it. Americans are too comfortable with their materialistic life styles to rise up en masse.
They never suffered the way Europeans--and many Asians--did during WWII with foreign occupation, bombings, millions of deaths and massive destruction on their own soil. They might rise up in the face of a foreign invasion, but the slow take over of their own country by authoritarians may not be enough to move the needle if their basic life styles remain the same. As long as there are lots of choices on streaming TV, access to smartphones and other screens, and Target and Costco "runs," they're not going to be moved to do much. |
Greasers v Socs? |
+1, it will not |
Oh, right, the 10 of you with a few boxes of your dad's ammo. |
You betcha and they’ve done extensive research on right fit firearms, licensed , and committed to significant training. Gun ranges confirm an uptick of women. Political affiliation is never discussed. |
I’m headed to a gun range for the first time in my life and will be purchasing a gun. If it’s every man for themselves I’m not taking any chances. Come to my house and you will regret it. |
It will not be at all. My neighbor votes for a different candidate than I do, but we're not going to get into a violent confrontation about it. There are plenty of communities out here that have diverse political views and we're not going to be inflecting violence on each other about it. We solve these issues with elections in this country. |
