Change in Diversity at schools ?

I think in a very subtle way private schools are starting to withdraw DEI activities. I started to notice that in the last two months. Way less DEI activities. I was wondering if this is happening in other schools. I am not against DEI. What I am surprised is about the apparent change in policies without announcing them. Somehow the school seems to be afraid of future changes in government policies for schools (an example is the attempt to remove the tax status in Harvard).

They should not be changing. They are private schools and do not receive federal funding.

Our school didn’t have over the top DEI events or policies to begin with, and I haven’t seen any change. There are some, but they are just part of a robust school events calendar.

Is your school doing that?

My school is currently downplaying diversity without saying anything or announcing any change in policy.

Interesting. What sorts of things are they doing? Is this in the DMV?

Yes . DMV. there were almost weekly activities cherishing diversity in terms of gender, religion, race, and nationality. But there has been a decline in those activities. Not disappearing but I believe is pivoting.

Which school?

It’s sad that DEI is being removed very quickly in colleges, corporations, and government. You like it or not, it’s happening.

Good riddance.

Maybe or maybe not. Depends on what comes next.

At this year’s NAIS conference, there was a lot of discussion of quietly pulling back or rethinking public-facing DEI programs, or at least being hyper aware of the current administration and the possibility of private schools being the next thing in its crosshairs.

You are catching on to some parts of the system of white supremacy.

That’s exactly what I am perceiving. The funny thing is that this is done quietly.

Only because people refuse to demand transparency because they think it’s too sensitive a topic to raise, right?

Such towers of moral strength you are!

It’s not being done away with at my kids’ school. But you keep whispering about your observations anonymously on DCUM since you can’t be bothered to openly question the scary authority at your kid’s LS.
