Hasn't our own Dept of Defence failed multiple audits and costs tax payers sh*t ton more with waste and fraud and inefficiencies. I hear Trump and DOGE are going to review it but that was a couple months ago and has anything happened? Seems like it was smoke and mirrors and lies, as usual.

You were not born here, were you? Anyone else catch it?

Please enlighten me, I am from a suburb of NYC and live in NOVA 😆

You a paid astroturfer trying to distract from the fake show of eliminating "waste and fraud" then making a big deal out of fractions of a percent while turning a blind eye to the giant wasteful DOD? If you care to actually comment on my point, have at it, otherwise I suspect you are paid to troll.

Yeah, time to go.

Well, then, by that logic, our Dept of Defense should have been tossed years ago. How much are we being fraudulently charged by defense contractors alone?

The Defense department hasn't passed an audit in years. Years.

Since we're friend with Russia now, and are isolationists, there is no need for all that equipment.

But a super small program that helps struggling young adults who are actually American citizens who live in the US? Apparently has to go.

The Russians are indeed our enemy. It’s crucial our you people learn that our enemy is the Russians; never forget that.

Another “whataboutism” ?

That’s the best defense you can come up with for rape and harassment- plagued Americorps ??

As bad for it is for the kids, for the communities they were serving, it is devastating.

With a failing economy and the elimination of programs like this, I guess Trump just wants everyone under 23 to go into the military?

Sounds like a good idea. Many European countries have mandatory service.

+1
I would be all for a mandatory year of service for everyone after high school graduation.

Kids literally doing what trump wanted, "raking the forests" and they still killed it.

As if many kids are giving up the x-box.

No. Everyone must work in a low paying factory. No college education needed.

We should have options for all types of learners and workers in this country, and any path should lead to providing for a household and family. Why the anger?

This is very sad. I’ve personally worked with americorps volunteers who are exemplary humans.

This makes me sad. I did Americorps in college. It was such a great opportunity.

77% of young people interested in the military can't join because they can't pass the aptitude test or are too fat. Let that sink in.

Or are in meds for anxiety or adhd (my kid—and now I am so glad she was disqualified!!)

I wouldn’t get complacent— the new army will be on speed ie adhd meds.

From the audit

All eleven of the material weaknesses are recurring, three of them since FY 2017, five since FY 2018, one since FY 2021, and two since FY 2022. AmeriCorps included in its Annual Management Report a Statement of No Assurance, acknowledging that its system of internal controls does not currently provide the necessary level of assurance towards the effectiveness of internal control over operations, reporting, and compliance. This is the fifth consecutive year that AmeriCorps has issued a No Assurance statement.“
