Religion is cultish and requires people to conform to a single narrative in order to be a part of the in crowd. It's a favorite of authoritarian regimes for that reason. It's easier to control people this way. Defund education, remove science funding, takeaway women's rights, destroy the middle class... control the masses.
Great articles in Salon and the New Yorker about JD Vance, Elon Musk, and the Christian right wing pushing the narrative that empathy is a sin and somehow responsible for the downfall of society. Some Christian values right there. |
|
One under-discussed aspect of this question is the explicitly Christian framing that both Trump and Vance are using to justify their lack of compassion: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/ng-intera...ian-right-musk-trump
"The idea that empathy is actually bad has also been gaining traction among white evangelical Christians in the US, some of whom have begun to recast the pangs of empathy that might complicate their support for Donald Trump and his agenda as a “sin” or “toxin”. The debate has emerged among Catholics too, with JD Vance recently using the medieval Catholic concept of “ordo amoris” to justify the Trump administration’s policies on immigration and foreign aid. (Vance’s stance – that it’s righteous to privilege the needs of one’s family, community and nation over those of the rest of the world – earned a rebuke from the pope, but support from other influential Catholic thinkers.) Yes, I have heard about the anti-empathy arguments coming from the "Christian" right. They are no longer recognizable as Christians and need an new name for themselves. They don't actually follow the teachings of Jesus. |
When all the Christians are raptured up, who will take care of Christian's pets, who can't go to heaven because they're not people? Atheists, that's who. They'll all be left behind, because like dogs and cats, they're not Christian. |
And they don't even care that Trump himself is an atheist. |
I will say it again...the New Testament, which is all about Jesus, no? has some horrific values in it, in addition to the selfless loving message that so many christians live by and believe. If all christians lived those tenets, we wouldn't have much of an issue, would we? However, if you need me to, I can point you to some verses that are anything BUT loving, selfless, etc.. There was an awful lot in there that is being used by people that also believe in the Bible. And the number of people that are taking the Bible literally is growing, as the more moderate or liberal christians numbers are shrinking. None of this even takes into account the horrors of the old testament, which has to be included in the christian faith since there are many things cherry picked from there, too. Ten Commandments, etc. It's getting absurd at this point. It's as someone I once heard say: christianity is like a big book of multiple choice. Whatever is convenient for a certain goal is used, the other stuff is thrown out. Honestly, I'm just so sick of the whole thing at this point. Very few people are being honest anyway about the truth of the matter. |
God it would be great if all the Bible nutters disappeared. There would then truly be peace in the world.

They will get their wish, one day. Revelation 20:4 “I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark…” What religion, whose great (false) prophet waged war like a beast, raping, murdering, and selling into slavery millions of Christians, who were once the dominant religion in Turkey, Egypt, and the Middle East? What religion beheads those who do not follow its great (false) prophet who says Jesus was not the son of God, not crucified, not raised from the dead?” Once them crazy, Bible-believing and Jesus-obeying Christians are out of the way, these people can enjoy bowing down on a prayer rug 5x a day under the watching eyes of their new masters who are no longer restrained by Christianity. But there will be no secret rapture. This is a lie Christians are taught thinking they won’t suffer persecution or harm, they will be whisked away safely. No! The Bible clearly says the Man of Sin comes before Jesus comes, and he will have the power to wear down the saints and behead them. This will cause a great falling away from the faith because all of those deceived Christians will have put their faith in the Rapture instead of Jesus. Jesus comes gathering the saints from the earth with a shout and the trumpet of God, not this secret, silent removal leaving cars suddenly without drivers and planes without pilots. Jesus warned many times: Be not deceived. |

Ladies and gentlemen I present to you exhibit A of the sky daddy crazies... |
But don't worry about your pets that are left behind, because they're not Christians. We atheists will take care of them. For a small fee. And please don't worry about planes going down in mid air because the pilots are Christian. As long as you're Christian too, you'll fly up to heaven from the plane, along with the pilot and all the other Christians aboard. Only the atheists crash! Times like this, I wish all Christians were fundamentalists. I don't think liberal Christians believe in the rapture, do they? |
Well it IS in the Bible lol. Some people choose which parts they want to believe in, and some believe every word. With 45,000 sects of christianity, it seems like no one can agree, though |
