Right, but his negotiation tactic was "it's just $66 a month more!" and he couldn't do that if I have the Navy check. Granted he could say "for just $66 a month out of your pocket" but that doesnt' have the same ring. But given what a moron he was, he might have tried, I suppose. |
In the end, financing with them saved me $11/month, which over the life of the loan was worth the 45 minutes of irritating finance manager behavior -- i got what I wanted, my point was he nearly lost a sale over it. I would've been happy to take his price to another Honda dealership and I'm sure they could have at least matched it OR I'm very sure Toyota would've beat it. I'm venting about his stupidity not that I feel bad or don't understand what happened. |
I’m sure you don’t know sarcasm when you see it. |
They seem like losers, so... yeah... probably. |
Not that OP was polite either. Calling the finance manager a moron for trying to do his job (scam OP) |
| OP, if you think $4800 will cover a new transmission, you don’t know anything about cars. |
|
I'm not reading all that.
I'm happy for you though. Or sorry that happened to you. |
| Sounds like you like to talk as much as he does. |
I know that if the Honda needs $4800 worth of work in the first six years it’s a garbage car. I also know Well I was buying a Honda because I had to replace the valve body on my Subaru and that was $2100 and my mechanic warned me the rest of the transmission was coming shortly if I didn’t dump it, he estimated that would be $2300 to get a decent refurbished or lightly used junkyard transmission . His specific recommendation was to dump the Subaru and get a Honda which he said he doubted he would need to do any transmission work on for at least the first 150k (as opposed to the Subaru at 85k) and if he did he estimated it would be much less. So there’s no reason for me to spend $4800 on the transmission in the first six years unless it’s pos. |
I didn’t call him a moron to his face. I told him I wasn’t interested but if he kept arguing about it I wouldn’t buy the car. He was rude. |
|
No, they're people like me who don't get swayed easily by low-IQ employees at car dealerships and are therefore irritated by the OP's Homeric retelling of what could have been a really simple negotiation. Keep saying no, sign on dotted line, walk out with car. |
Yeah, that’s what happened. It was a simple negotiation. You just missed the point of the story. |
| Petite woman here who recently bought a Mazda without my husband. Financed 0.9% through the dealer, no money down, 3k off MSRP. Declined all extras. Couldn’t have taken more than 15 minutes start to finish. Some of you really need to work on your resting btch faces. |
| Just bought a Germany luxury car last week. The finance manager present this iPad showing all the options. I said no, and she then had me sign somethign saying I was declining all that stuff, and that was it, end of story. |
