Northeastern last year;
- Number of Applicants: 98,373 - Acceptance Rate: 5.65% It broke through 100K apps to 105,092 this year. Acceptance rate TBA |
Yes. Another Test Optional school that was the first to drum up high application rates to rise in polls- but I do think it's a good school just the acceptance rate should be taken with a grain of salt. |
But it is known that all the schools that converted to 'Test Optional' will see a rise in percent acceptance due to kids pivoting away to TO schools since they don't have the scores in range for acceptance. That has not been disputed and is playing out. Other schools in the same academic range not requiring test scores are seeing a surge in applicants. Selectivity does not connotate rigor or quality of student body. |

Our college counselor jokes that when we were applying many decades ago there were barely 100,000 people who knew where Northeastern was. |
Many decades ago, MIT was a vocational school. Welcome to the 21st century. |
Yea but us news only uses Emory college numbers, just like NYUs other campuses aren't included. |
1% had their credit card rejected...but they still count the application. |
Does anyone know what the overall acceptance rates are for WM or VaTech? |
Disagree. |
In 1995, MIT had a 35% acceptance rate. Back then, engineering/STEM wasn't a "hot" field. |
With 2/3 of UVA kids coming from in state and the EA number, UVA seems too low. Back of the envelope math would have put them at 18-19% total last year. Can we get an actual source for any of this? |
In 1992, UPenn had close to 50% acceptance rate. Almost all schools were not as "hot" as today. |
No surprise UVA being the least selective of them all. It’s not in the same league. |
