Donald Trump US Could Join British Commonwealth

I’ve been through this with an ex.
Sometimes they send or respond to articles to “reach out.”

Do not engage. Go “low contact.” Look it up. Sometimes called grey rocking

Coming from the US president, isn't this treason?

Everyone forget the American revolution ? I’m sure the magas would love to have the king’s face on their money plus paying a yearly tax to “the crown “. What is wrong with people?

That doesn't happen in most Commonwealth countries.

an applicant country should, as a general rule, have had a historic constitutional association with an existing Commonwealth member, save in exceptional circumstances
in exceptional circumstances, applications should be considered on a case-by-case basis
an applicant country should accept and comply with Commonwealth fundamental values, principles, and priorities as set out in the 1971 Declaration of Commonwealth Principles and contained in other subsequent Declarations
an applicant country must demonstrate commitment to: democracy and democratic processes, including free and fair elections and representative legislatures; the rule of law and independence of the judiciary; good governance, including a well-trained public service and transparent public accounts; and protection of human rights, freedom of expression, and equality of opportunity
an applicant country should accept Commonwealth norms and conventions, such as the use of the English language as the medium of inter-Commonwealth relations, and acknowledge His Majesty King Charles III as the Head of the Commonwealth
new members should be encouraged to join the Commonwealth Foundation, and to promote vigorous civil society and business organisations within their countries, and to foster participatory democracy through regular civil society consultations.

That's gonna be a problem.

Also, will "focused" have a double s and will we write colour and favour?

This is laughable. Many dictatorships are members of the commonwealth.

President Donald Trump suggested that the United States could join the British Commonwealth on Friday in a post to Truth Social, his social media platform.

The president shared an article from British tabloid The Sun reporting that King Charles III was making a "secret offer" to the White House, and that plans are in process for the U.S. to become an associate member of the international organization.

"I Love King Charles. Sounds good to me!" Trump wrote in response to the report

Oh maga! What happened to America first?

As a Commonwealth citizen, one of the most important unspoken rules is to be self effacing and make jokes at your own expense. Can’t see Emperor Trump humbling himself anytime soon. Also King Charles is only supposed to have symbolic not literal power to make national decisions for the UK.

Once the U.S. joins the British Realm, then Trump gets to wear the golden regalia. Just like the Canadian mayors and prime ministers.

Seriously can we have UK policies? No guns! Haha.

I would welcome becoming part of UK or Canada. This place is awful

The UK government would celebrate so hard. “See folks, it only took 250 years for them to realize they never should have left.”

But if the U.S. becomes a Commonwealth Realm like Canada, then we would have to swear allegiance to the king and sing “God Save the King” in place of “My Country Tis of Thee”.

That is not true. There are commenwealth countries that do not have the king as their head of state. Even if they do, like Canada, they have their own flag and national anthem.

The king is still head of state of the British commonwealth. Many countries have separate heads of government.

Trump would replace the king.

😂🤣. Great let him. The current King and royal family would take all their current wealth and land that generates wealth. The new commonwealth would save some money and Trump would be sent out to pasture to be ignored. Then we the people could get on with the actual business of governing with someone capable.

I seem to remember from my high School history that there was a little skirmish called the American Revolutionary War fought with England to be free of its king. Why would we go back particularly now that we have an uncrowned king?

It wouldn’t be his first rodeo with treasonous acts.
