Being a member of the Commonwealth does not make citizens UK subjects. Canadians are not UK citizens.

I bet most Americans don’t know how the British Commonwealth came to be.

Check out Prince William on the frontlines with British troops in Estonia. Pretty clear message.

You have to be a democracy and involved in climate change. In a year, US will not be considered a democracy. And Trump doesn’t believe in climate change.

But if the U.S. becomes a Commonwealth Realm like Canada, then we would have to swear allegiance to the king and sing “God Save the King” in place of “My Country Tis of Thee”.

That is not true. There are commenwealth countries that do not have the king as their head of state. Even if they do, like Canada, they have their own flag and national anthem.

The king is still head of state of the British commonwealth. Many countries have separate heads of government.

I don't know if it will take a year.

And things like healthcare for everyone, family leave.

The GOP has signed us all up for this second season of the Dementia Don show. They’re all watching and clapping, pretending to everyone that this is great because we can’t hurt Uncle Don’s feelings at Sunday dinner.

This! Smiles everyone, smiles.

Honestly, after watching that video somebody could ask our president for anything while handing him a cheeseburger and fries and he’d say “on behalf of Melania and me, yes!”

Not true. For example Kenya and Barbados have presidents as their heads of state.

At the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Uganda in November 2007, Heads of Government reviewed the recommendations of the Committee on Commonwealth Membership and agreed on the following core criteria for Membership:

an applicant country should, as a general rule, have had a historic constitutional association with an existing Commonwealth member, save in exceptional circumstances
in exceptional circumstances, applications should be considered on a case-by-case basis
an applicant country should accept and comply with Commonwealth fundamental values, principles, and priorities as set out in the 1971 Declaration of Commonwealth Principles and contained in other subsequent Declarations
an applicant country must demonstrate commitment to: democracy and democratic processes, including free and fair elections and representative legislatures; the rule of law and independence of the judiciary; good governance, including a well-trained public service and transparent public accounts; and protection of human rights, freedom of expression, and equality of opportunity
an applicant country should accept Commonwealth norms and conventions, such as the use of the English language as the medium of inter-Commonwealth relations, and acknowledge His Majesty King Charles III as the Head of the Commonwealth
new members should be encouraged to join the Commonwealth Foundation, and to promote vigorous civil society and business organisations within their countries, and to foster participatory democracy through regular civil society consultations.

That's gonna be a problem.

Also, will "focused" have a double s and will we write colour and favour?

Trump would replace the king.

There are 56 commonwealth countries, but fewer within the British Realm like Canada. So, Canada recognizes the king as head of state.

Everyone forget the American revolution ? I’m sure the magas would love to have the king’s face on their money plus paying a yearly tax to “the crown “. What is wrong with people?

We fail.

"an applicant country must demonstrate commitment to: democracy and democratic processes, including free and fair elections and representative legislatures; the rule of law and independence of the judiciary; good governance, including a well-trained public service and transparent public accounts; and protection of human rights, freedom of expression, and equality of opportunity"

The British flag was the official flag of Canada when my mother grew up there. The British also forced French areas in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and other eastern Canadian locations to ban the French language in schools and government offices. Why would anyone want to be connected to a country with some of the worst human rights violations throughout the world.
