I think BU has great potential and is undervalued.

With a 12% acceptance rate, not an easy admit. Perennial top 50.

Vandy? Because of the law school? Didn't the undergrad drop 5 spots?

How are Vanderbilt and Davidson trending up? They are already up there.

Vandy more selective than almost all ivies this year.

Davidson RD admit rate this year mind-boggling.

This could be about the denominator - the schools have done a great job with marketing and get a ton of applications. But it’s meaningless if those surplus applications are from under-qualified students who never had a chance.

The question is, what are the stats for the accepted students? GPA/rigor/test scores? And how many of them were accepted by other highly in demand / rejective schools?

For example, what are the odds that a high-stays kid who gets into Vanderbilt or Davidson also gets into Duke? I know that their admit rate is similarly low. But is the applicant pool truly the same?

Yes, they generally get into all three in regular decision. This is not surprising. My kid got into Vanderbilt and Northwestern in regular decision.

I think undergrad is still T20?
Vanderbilt RD admit rate: 3.3%

Was that driven by the success of the football team this past year? Maybe, but according to college navigators it is now more selective than many Ivies.

William & Mary has been going *down* in the rankings, not up.

Isn't BU something like $100k a year to attend? What is your definition of undervalued?

But the only reason it sank is because of the USNWR change in ranking criteria to start counting FGLI and ignore stuff like class size. This goosed a lot of the huge public’s tremendously.

Stop with this. This is why UVA gets hate in this board. There are plenty of reasons kids who get into both would pick UGA.

Now, see, I think UMD has been highly respected and even prestigious for about the last decade or so, when they started to really lean in on STEM. It also coincides with their move to the Big Ten, so for all those whining about how they should've never left the ACC, they're out of place in the Big Ten, etc....that development alone makes that move very much worthwhile.

HC’s profile in the DMV will rise when they play football against Georgetown at Fenway Park this year!

Holy Cross enjoys one of the highest at home attendance figures for FBS/1AA . By contrast Georgetown has one of the lowest home attendance. HC is rising because of their new President and off the charts alumni network.
