Concerns anew for our next-level crazy leaders.

This is not just limited to Tesla's nor just electric vehicles.

Exactly. buy a clunker if you are really paranoid about it.

The scarier scenario is if they could actually drive it remotely.

+1. There are random complaints about this happening. Teslas slowing down without case on highways, teslas locking kids in and nothing works to open them, etc. I'd rather have my car stolen and deal with insurance than have to deal with a crazy 'Big Brother'.

If he does that, Tesla sales will drop like a rock, even more than they're done recently. No one will buy a car that the billionaire owner can just decide to disable at will.

Obviously he's not going to hurt his bottom line more than he has to. He's very impulsive and flits from shiny bauble to shiny bauble: once he's bored with destroying the federal government, he will move on to something else, and feds/Democrats will be the least of his concerns.

I don't think he really cares about Tesla any longer. Apparently, his other, not yet public companies (SpaceX, xAI, etc.), are up almost 50% in the private markets since the election. None of them are retail dependent and that's where he will focus. He will spin off or move companies out of Tesla.. For example, self-driving could be spun off as a private company, whose products would be sold to Tesla vs. keeping it in Tesla. Whose going to investigate? The non-existent/de-fanged SEC? Once that stripping is complete, he'll just hand over reins to one of his minions and move on.

Yes of course. You need to buy a subscription for the self driving feature. So the car connects to a database which tells it if the subscription is active. You can shut the car off, turn off safety features etc etc remotely in that case. And hack it of course.

He used his Tesla shares to secure loans for spaceX and election donations. If Tesla stock tanks, his collateral disappears and the loans can be called back.

At this point, who would dare? The sovereign funds (e.g. Saudis) wouldn't dare ask for their loans back. The 'locals' are busy offloading them through private placements (I know Fidelity is for sure) and any claims will just sit in court forever. He hasn't paid severance benefits to some key personnel at Twitter for example and it's still going through the courts. He's just another Trump when it comes to paying back what he owes.

Reminds me of Steve Jobs and Apple; Apple had declining sales and identified Jobs as the problem. The board threw Jobs out even though he owned close to 30% of the company.

I don't see why they don't do that here? Even if he stops working/running DOGE and lives a quiet life - that still wont stop Tesla's declining sales. Keep the pressure up and we get Tesla without Elon.

They will.

All the newer vehicles have this feature and can be remotely disabled. If you don't like this, then get an older used car, the older the better.

Who cares? Any progressive who is still driving a Tesla is an embarrassment anyhow. Time to get rid of those cars.

Because you had such great concern for the environment and now will get a Chevy Tahoe.

If everyone gets rid of their Teslas now the price of gas is going back up because of demand.

How many teslas are out there? Wouldn't think it would be enough to affect gas prices.
