Why on earth shouldn't he get the death penalty?

Caro Quintero was indicted in 2020 in New York for smuggling tons of heroin, methamphetamine, marijuana and cocaine into the U.S. from Mexico and Colombia. U.S. prosecutors accused him and other leaders of his organization of using hit men to carry out “numerous acts of violence including murders, assaults, kidnappings and acts of torture.”
