| I can’t believe no one has mentioned Maas. Court of Thorns and Roses is very hot. |
| I think a lot of what folks have suggested is nothing like “literature”, but why would we want a detailed, well-written sex scene stifled by “literature.” For traditional historical romances Lisa Kleypas is an author to try. If anyone is looking for some new book boyfriends, look at Rebecca Daws. |
| This is OP. I love that people have given so many suggestions! My own taste runs more to contemporary (not historical). For example, Katherine Center, Annabel Monoghan, Christina Lauren. I've read all their books, so if anyone has more suggestions along those lines, I would appreciate them! |
I thought the beginning was slow, but it def picks up. Fourth wing is also good for romance and I liked the story too. |
| Lolita |
I was surprised too! All of the COTAR series are very steamy!! |
| Philipa Gregory |
Indeed, but for those that can hang in there and keep going; Court of Mist & Fury, and Court of Silver Flames (Nesta+Cassian) blow book 1 out of the water. |
| The Beauty series by Anne Rice |
| I like really smutty well written romance. My favorites are Minerva Spencer (the smuttiest of all) , Kresley Cole, Lisa Kleypas, Sierra Simone, Sylvia Day. |
| Reddit's romance thread is where you want to go. |
| L.J. Shen, Jewel E Ann, Parker S Huntington, Brittainy Cherry, Ilsa Madden Mills |
| Love the books from the publishing imprint 831 Stories. Biggest Fan is my fave. |
Contemporary authors to try: Olivia Dade, Chloe Liese, Mhairi McFarlane, Sarah Adams |

Saw a post on instagram today that made me think of this thread. DO NOT be embarrassed for reading smut. Here’s an excellent argument why.
