Smutty books that are well written

I'm kind of embarrassed to post this but here goes: I'm looking for novels that has lots of sex in them. Not All Fours! More like the kind you find in Judith Krantz books, but more literary. Even just slightly more literary!
Bring on your dirty books recs!

Have you read the Ken Follet books like Pillars of the Earth and World Without End? He also has a second trilogy but I can't recall any of the names. Very well written and surprisingly smutty. Also the Brigerton series.

The Paradise Problem.

When I look for good smut, I'm not looking for a pulitzer.

The Outlander series, especially the eponymous first book! (This is the most serious/varied in tone of my recos, lighter below).

Emily Henry, start with Book Lovers.

Christina Lauren books if you want modern, snappy writing with a wide, frequently open bedroom door.

Oh! You might enjoy India Holton…many tongue in cheek literary allusions, funny and clever and plenty of open doors (it also has a dash of Victorian Britain, light witchcraft, a very empowered women). Start with the Wisteria Society of Lady Scoundrels.

And +1 to Bridgerton, well written and light (though not deeply literary).

But there's also a lot of violence against women in his books. I had to stop reading them.

For whatever reason I really love “Highland Spitfire”.

I agree with Christina Lauren and Emily Henry, well-written, strong characters, then that smut element

Abby Jimenez. Very popular series "Part of your World". She has a new book coming out this year (Say You'll Remember Me) which already has 129 people on the waitlist at MCPL.

Eloisa James is a professor of Shakespeare who writes historical romance.

Courtney Milan was a Law Professor and Supreme Court clerk. She also writes historical romance.

KJ Charles writes books sets in a variety of historical settings (mostly m/m).

Rebekah Witherspoon is a great writer who writes very sexy contemporary fiction. Haven is a good one if you feeling like something a bit darker. Rafe is good for something less angsty.

Helen Hoang is a very sexy writer who writes contemporary. Start with the Kiss Quotient.

Olivia Dade writes about older heroines. My favorite is 40-Love.

Kit Rocha has two dystopian series. The Mercenary Librarians is traditionally published and very timely (fighting back against oligarchy with community). The Beyond series was self-published and about 10 times filthier (complimentary).

All of these are genre romances and top-notch writing. You can also check out Olivia Waite’s recommendations in her NY Times column (or her books- also great).

Another vote for Outlander. I loved the first book, not so much the rest.

A book that had a surprising amount of smut was The Fourth Wing, which has become a publishing phenomenon, I think in part for the surprise of the sex.

I read nothing but romance. I highly recommend Lorelei James, Rough Rider series, Lauren Dane Brown Family series and its spin off, Marie Force’s Quantum series. These are just off the top of my head. I’ll come back with more once I take a look at my Kindle.
