And this took us from the crime-ridden Marion Berry days to a much safer city with tons of new development. The Control Board did a world of good. |
This is what concerns me. I am not going to pretend like the crime in DC doesn’t bother me and doesn’t need to change, but realistically it doesn’t affect me and isn’t likely to. Public works—trash pickup, road work, 311—that affects me and DC actually does them pretty well. Does this administration have a plan for these items? I don’t trust them to get it right. |
You must live on one of the chosen blocks. There are 6 Christmas trees still sitting curbside on our block. Our street gutters are choked with rotting leaves. And the once safe apartment building around the corner is filled with homeless and the occasional prostitute. We’re willing to roll the dice with Congress. |
| Anthony Williams did a fantastic job. Then just low quality mayors, although fenty was ok. And low, low quality council members. We used some highly qualified, smart people on the council, like David Catania. But we have no right to expect competence from the modern left. It is why all cities suck. Sometimes you get lucky and the city becomes so poorly run that it goes into BR and for a period of time, competent adults are placed in charge. But them they leave, the crazy self destructive policies return and the city drifts back into lawlessness and suicidal empathy - never-ending cycle. If you would have told me in 2015 DC would be a homeless tent city, at or near all time violent crime rates by 2025, I would have said you are crazy. And yet here we are. |
Pinto seems salvageable. But Brianna and Frumin are hollowing out once safe parts of DC with crazy progressive policies. |
You mean to write "filled with diversity from all walks of life." |
| His policies and the resulting widening income gap are sure to create more crime and homelessness. |
Why do so many people want a micromanager-in-chief? Pretty sure he’s got Kennedy Center concerts to plan. |
The alleged perpetrators were caught in MD. Maybe MD needs to stop allowing it's criminals to roam DC, and VA needs to stop supplying guns to DC criminals |
Bring back appointed mayors already! |
I agree. I didn't care for J. Graham of Frumin's predecessor, but I didn't get the sense that they were passing legislation intended to make my family less sense. The same cannot be said of BN and Fumin. I am embarrassed of them - its embarrassing to live in a community that voted for them to be their reps. |
If they want people to commute to work daily these incidents are a big problem leading to increased traffic and misery of commuters. metro was built to be public transit, not a playground for “protected” degenerate behaviors, not subjected to FAFO. Clean it up. There will be no regrets, teens learn quickly when things are no longer a game. At least DC doesn’t have to deal with the same numbers of mentally ill/drugged roaming its subway system who are beyond caring about FAFO. |
What do you want? Have perfectly functioning public transit stay empty overrun by bored teens flexing their “privileges” while people sit in traffic instead of spending money in DC? I don’t think Bowser herself wanted RTO just to increase private vehicle traffic and have people escape the city asap immediately after their work shift is over instead of lingering for happy hours, some shopping, etc. |
How does crime not affect you if you live there? it happens even in nice neighborhoods. |
| DC residents are fleeing the city. The mayor is totally worthless. |
