How do you make homemade pizza?

We use those Chef Boyardee pizza kits from the grocer, with 2 key changes to the crust. The kit skimps on flour and yeast - or maybe it is intended to make an 8" pizza (we want 12").

1. We add some King Arthur white whole wheat flour, because the kit does not have enough flour.
2. We add some quick rise yeast to the dough.

For the toppings, we add some cheese because they also skimp on that and we put fresh basil leaf as one of the toppings.

I like this one in a regular home oven. It’s also really simple to make and kid friendly. https://www.seriouseats.com/easy-no-roll-no-stretch-sicilian-style-square

Start w the ball of dough from Whole Foods, and work on getting some creative/favored toppings. Use the San marzano tomatoes for your sauce and really cook it down. Maybe you need more sugar than you think. Once you’ve got some good toppings, work on figuring out the dough part together.

If you are going to add flour and yeast (and of course you have to add cheese; the kit just provides a scraping of shaved parm) then you may as well skip the kit. If you just like the sauce, there's the same pizza sauce. Hint, look for it in a CAN and not a JAR.
