At the time, the signs only said "no swimming" and he wasn't swimming. He was filling a sand bucket at the water's edge. Also there were no signs warning about alligators at the time. It's easy to judge after the fact. May he rest in peace.


He was wading actually at 9:15 pm. Why did they have a 2 yr old wading in the dark in a murky body of water?

Alligators live in the pond on Turtle Beach Lane. Assume you’ll be careful and look from a distance!

Other wildlife you’ll see a lot of is deer. It’s really cool to see them walking in the dunes and onto the beach in the morning. We’ve seen bobcats on our boardwalk and lots of prints including raccoons and bobcats and deer. April is not a sea turtle season (nesting or hatching) so you won’t see them.
