Flying Should Be Outlawed to Reduce Climate Change

If we can eliminate flying and possibly eventually driving, this would do a lot to save our planet and make the world a better place. We have the internet so travel is not that important anymore. Unless you are an executive, or a political leader you are better off staying put.

Do you have any links that show what a flight is comparable to - something that shows the impact of the various different activities we do?

In this administration there is no climate change. So personal transportation options won't matter if we're going back to coal and oil drilling and getting rid of environmental regulations and incentives to lower greenhouse gases.

Have executives and politicians heard of this thing called Zoom?

Oh yes, the LMC are the ones flying 6 times a year

I do so because, my husband is also an exec for an international wholesaler and contracts with the WHO. He cannot do his important work without flying. I think he and most other execs have justifiable reasons for flying. I include Doctors and aide workers, but overall your average person doesn't have a good enough reason to do so.

Screw the little people, then? Is that your philosophy?

Or from a more literary perspective, some animals are more equal than others?

I’m hoping this is satire. But probably not, since the latest trends from both political sides of the aisle seem to be ban, ban, ban, control, control, control. We must force people to do or not to do whatever “we” decide is best. Give it a rest. 🙄

Google says 9.4 BILLION passengers in 2024. You rather see 9.4BILLION cars on the road?

All of us peasants must sacrifice for the greater good.

So you need to start with private jet people like Al Gore, John Kerry and Taylor Swift

Until the rich climate activists stop flying their private jets, there is zero reason for the rest of is to stop flying commercial.

It's important that we save our planet for all of our families.

None of that performative stuff matters as long as China keeps being China.

We could stop everything but walking, and they would still polute the world to the point that none of what we do would make a difference.

One thing that will help is for the rich, especially left wing activists, quit flying their private jets and go coach, take a bus or walk.

Lead by example.

Well, no.

The biggest offenders are rich hypocrites like John Kerry.

And please report back in four years to let us know what an impact it has had, on your life and on the climate. Then I’ll decide whether to join you on your noble quest.

The entire world, including factories, shut down for months over covid with almost no one flying or even driving.

It didn't make a dent in polution.

The whole thing is performative with no affect on the environment.

If it did, we would have seen significant polution drops in the early part of covid.

My parents live in Europe and I have aunts and cousins in Asia.

I fly once every two years in economy. No guilt.

Individual transport is far less impactful to global warming than industrial production, OP. Cheap clothing, for example.

Yes, let's have all the poors and middle class go naked.

I don’t buy clothes either place but where are you buying non china clothes exactly? Vintage and thrift, sure, but where else for a reasonable cost on things like leggings and undies?

Hanes makes socks in the USA, as well as some undies.

American Giant makes clothes in the USA and they last.

As Ever NYC manufactures clothing in the USA

American Blossom Lines (cotton bedding grown, woven and manufatured in the USA)

There are more. You just need to look.
