I’m outside a lot, year round. I find that if you keep going out and doing stuff, regularly, you adapt and begin to appreciate the nuances of winter weather. Today, for example, the wind was screaming but the sun was out. So if you could find some shelter from the wind, it was actually quite nice.
After early February, when we hit that magical 10 hours of daylight, my mood improves so, so much. Having brighter mornings and later sunsets, and seeing all the spring plants begin to pop up and bud, makes me feel like we’re almost there. Oh, and lots of wool, fleece, silk, and technical fabrics. Like a PP, I grew up layering t-shirts and wearing cotton crew socks. The right clothes make so much of a difference. |
| I wish it was like this year-round. The colder the better. I despise summer. I’ll be sad next week because it’s supposed to start warming up. This week is going be my last happy week until December |

I've struggled this winter too. I've tried really hard to create cozy vibes and it has helped keep my spirits up. For me those things are:
- A heated throw blanket (obsessed with this thing and practically attached to it at home) - Lots of candles and lamplight - Lots of tea and hot chocolate - Really pretty jigsaw puzzles with the family (geeked out and got a puzzle board that has made this more practical/convenience/easy to move around to wherever we are) - More pizza or soup nights on the couch with a good show or movie (we almost never do this except winter) - Baking cookies about once a week |
What a Debbie Downer. |
