As someone who works in private equity, I will say that there’s generally a pervasive PE/VC view that having to hire or make pipeline programs for certain URM generally does not get you the best people.

There are certain racial stereotypes that these guys think are accurate:
South Asians and certain Asians are the best engineers and coders. You want them bringing their people to your organization, if you are a founder.
White guys who played lacrosse and went to Stanford or Harvard can often talk to talk and walk the walk that helps get your company another funding round. You’re going to want those guys in the room too.

There are certain things that are not politically correct to say, but they’re who you want. Other pipelining /URM programs rarely have the same benefits or results. Hard to find URM unicorns. And so, DEI has been an abject failure in SV’s mind and breeds mediocrity. And the fact that Democrats embraced DEI, showed how disconnected they are from business.

In this view, Democrats don’t understand or even want real innovation. They like the status quo. SV is anti-status quo across the board. Dems wanted to control AI with government regulatory capture, blocking free markets. This was a big problem and why SV ran into Trump’s arms.

SV believes the Biden administration was trying to destroy the future of BigTech. Their biggest concern is that the modern Dem party is anti-capitalist. Anti-founder - they don’t even want founders innovating, building, making.

They believe that there was a giant shift and something happened to the Democratic Party after Obama? Hijacked by socialists after Black Lives Matter in that the issues Dems care about will never be conducive to American business. And because of that they lost support of almost almost everyone who counts in Silicon Valley. It will be hard to win back.

That’s it. In a nutshell.

A lot of the South East Asians here on science visas start a company and ONLY hire buddies from their country of origin for the other science visas they request….even for stupid stuff like secretary. No joke.
I’m from Northern Virginia and have a kid into STEM. The South Asian Math & Coding camps will NOT allow other children of other races in to learn, and I’ve seen some that discourage girls too.. I was told “This is for OUR community. Where is YOUR community?” Not all classes/camps are like this, and my kid is thankful.
It leads to a controlled pipeline all the way up that is racist and sexist. If you have a kid who is a unicorn, it’s a rough time, clawing up time from the start.
Then you get tech bros & Boomer men who agree with this garbage and decide not to give internships or hire based on this mind set. They would make excuses to only hire white & Asian men forever if allowed.
It’s racist & sexist at the core. “I’m worried about innovation” my a$$.

What are these stem camps discriminating kids based on race and sex?

We want to know, or are you making things up.

Oh yeah …
The tech bros just LOVE the free market and competition.
Get bent. No one with half a brain believes that crap.
Those aholes have been monopolizing, consolidating power and stifling innovation for 20 years.
The boys sitting on the stage behind Trump don’t give AF about this country or the people in it.
And to whoever said they don’t read fiction?
Sure they do. Those sociopathic Pieces of sh—— have read plenty of dystopian science fiction. They believe it. They want to make it real, and they are well on their way.

Go read some Curtis Yarvin. That’s who they worship. That’s what they believe in.
Go google dark enlightenment.
These dickheads don’t believe in freedom or democracy. They believe our country is a failure and the way forward is a weird tech monarchy. You will be ruled by a CEO.
Seriously.

He talks about the Obama and Biden administrations debanking enemies through back door shenanigans (in other words, not legally and never in written orders).

But it happened. How can one disagree with his perspective?

I don't agree with most of this politically but appreciate you sharing, PP. It explains a lot.
