Explain Andreessen To Me

Marc was the “inventor” of Mosaic by virtue of being a grad student at NCSA when the web protocol was published.

Now he is a master VC investor and uber capitalist who has been highlighted in NYT and podcasts like Friedman.

He spends the first hour talking about how he has been silenced, that they can’t speak the truth without being cancelled, etc.

What exactly do they believe that is being judged as “wrong” or what does he want to say? He keeps alluding to it but leaving it as an exercise to the listener as they should know. Musk is kind of similar, that there is severe censorship or forced thinking or people just parroting the NYT, etc.

What exactly do they want to say that they can’t?? Why aren’t they just saying it now??

Narcissistic personality disorder.

yup he is probably the most obnoxious of all the SV bros now opining on all issues. complete mediocrity and ugly to boot.

They want to talk about their monarchy second coming

These tech bros are the poster children of Dunning Kruger effect. Andreessen is rich because he was lucky. Yes, he was probably good at tech but many people are; he was in the right place at the right time. Same with Musk, Bezos, and Zuckerberg. But money has insulated from their mediocrity and made the discount the luck in their lives.

Tech people find it very easy to think themselves brilliant because they get good at engineering their little systems in these pretend abstract worlds. They otherwise have a complete disregard for real world complexity and basic humanity. You wouldn't catch any of these people reading a fictional book, watching a play, or dwelling on any emotion beyond what a child would experience playing with legos.

Maybe he wants to say things like

Hunter biden’s laptop story was suppressed
Covid leaked from a lab
Conservatives were de banked at the behest of a democrat government
Trans women are men
Covid vaccines are questionable for certain populations
DEI is racism against white and Asian men

But those have been in the news endlessly.

He was saying that there are things he cants say because it would be considered hate speech.

I have been wondering this myself. What are these secret off limit discussions? Iq realism? Genetic realism? Crime stats realism? Beliefs in the superiority of one culture or religion (altho he’s atheist so that can’t be the case for him)?

What’s with all the rewriting of history? Yes, those things have been considered hate speech and suppressed on social media, sometimes at the behest of the government. Are you new here?

They cultivate a mystique because they know they can't handle an actual debate that discredit their ridiculous or plainly evils ideas, which are simply to accumulate power and wealth for themselves.

As someone who works in private equity, I will say that there’s generally a pervasive PE/VC view that having to hire or make pipeline programs for certain URM generally does not get you the best people.

There are certain racial stereotypes that these guys think are accurate:
South Asians and certain Asians are the best engineers and coders. You want them bringing their people to your organization, if you are a founder.
White guys who played lacrosse and went to Stanford or Harvard can often talk to talk and walk the walk that helps get your company another funding round. You’re going to want those guys in the room too.

There are certain things that are not politically correct to say, but they’re who you want. Other pipelining /URM programs rarely have the same benefits or results. Hard to find URM unicorns. And so, DEI has been an abject failure in SV’s mind and breeds mediocrity. And the fact that Democrats embraced DEI, showed how disconnected they are from business.

In this view, Democrats don’t understand or even want real innovation. They like the status quo. SV is anti-status quo across the board. Dems wanted to control AI with government regulatory capture, blocking free markets. This was a big problem and why SV ran into Trump’s arms.

SV believes the Biden administration was trying to destroy the future of BigTech. Their biggest concern is that the modern Dem party is anti-capitalist. Anti-founder - they don’t even want founders innovating, building, making.

They believe that there was a giant shift and something happened to the Democratic Party after Obama? Hijacked by socialists after Black Lives Matter in that the issues Dems care about will never be conducive to American business. And because of that they lost support of almost almost everyone who counts in Silicon Valley. It will be hard to win back.

That’s it. In a nutshell.

He is the real deal. Well-respected and what he says about Trump matters to Silicon Valley.

Spot on.

Also, to add to this, they’ve done a complete reverse on considering Democrats the party of education, and this is a group that values rigorous education.
