Personnel file

The eOPF website is not intuitive. It took me about 10 minutes of clicking around to figure out how to download my files into a single PDF. The instructions on the website are terrible.

Further, I didn’t have access to eOPF and had to request user name & password. My agency didn’t grant access until 2nd or 3rd pay period and I forgot to go back to create an account until yesterday. My agency also buries the eOPF website link within a few embedded pages in our HR intranet site. This isn’t something you can just google.

Still, something to figure out on one's own and not ask anonymous randos on a website.
Even entry-level jobs require some level of problem-solving. Come on.

What a weird thing to complain about. Almost like you have some ulterior motive.

Just sad about the mental laziness of our public servants, is all.

Again, it seems like you have some ulterior motive. What could it possibly be?!

What’s mentally lazy about … trying to figure out how to do the thing by reaching out to a forum of knowledgeable people?

go to staples and buy a one hundred dollar printer

I didn't realize this thread existed. Hey guys, my eOPF PDF is PW protected. I don't think I have a PW. Is OPM blocking downloading?

It explained it on the page: it is your last name and the number of the print job (number in the first column on the left of the table)

Any special guidance for SES?

I just downloaded mine today. The union recommended that everyone do so. I downloaded the file and emailed it to myself. 17 years’ worth of information. No need to print out over 100 pages - I have the file saved to my personal computer. It didn’t take long to do and I had no issues with the EOPF site.

what is the problem with mailing it to yourself from your work email? (Honest question)

Email (in its default form, not encrypted with PGP or something like that) is insecure. Do you really want your personnel file to potentially be available to others?

You download it to your federal government laptop. You need to use your PIV card to access eOPF.

Then use outlook tied to your .gov email and send it to your personal email. Your agency may require you to use their encryption email service. You may get warning popups stating that you’re sending PII or asking you to provide justification. Do all that….but still send it to your personal email.

I have a TS security clearance and none of my documents had classification markings. It’s completely legal and legit to email yourself a copy of your personnel file. It’s your file; you need to have access to it outside of .gov resources.

Our eOPF system is down.

I think that ship is way out to sea with all the privacy breaches at OPM. Who knows who combing through everything. Hope someone brings a privacy act suit soon.
