Why are so many of the HS graduations at UMBC now?

Our school sent out a poll to parents and students to inform their decision. UMBC won. I can't speak for everyone, but we viewed it as better for logistics, parking, and getting enough tickets for grandparents.

But this board had a ton of people complaining/confused about their own school's choice, so I don't think most schools did a similar poll of stakeholders.

It's also about availability. MCPS only gets six or eight time slots at DAR, so most schools aren't able to go there even if they'd prefer to.

Oh yay. This debate again.

That would be preferable for me.

But not for most. Graduations haven't been held on football fields for the majority of MCPS high schools this century. If you want a graduation on a football field with a class of 75, go move to the sticks.

HS wanted a place for graduation that was appropriate, spacious and had all that they needed to have a graduation ceremony (and did not cost an arm and a leg), parents did not want to pay parking fees and needed uncongested parking, students wanted green grounds to take pictures...UMBC is an excellent choice. DAR is overrated and hard to find parking.

UMBC is too? Literally thousands of seniors are going there already and probably already got to see the campus at the university.

Can they split the class and have both or several ceremonies on school field instead? Last names a-l ceremony at 9am, m-z at 1pm or vice versa?

Students don't make friends by last names.

So stupid point. They don't need their friends at a ceremony where they are asked to shut up and line up to sit there for hours listening to boring speeches. The friends can make plans to photograph or go out to celebrate before or after ceremonies.
