How in the world did these become so popular?

TikTok/YouTube obviously.

Or they have seen other kids/friends/siblings of friends wear one.

OP here and appreciate all the sizing input. Bday is in 2.5 months so I think the timing should be fine. DD has seen the hoodies on neighbor girls, friends’ older sisters and also goes to a k-8 so she sees what older kids are wearing.

It’s as arbitrary as a Coca Cola rugby or an Esprit sweatshirt or tote. IYKYK. I’m still waiting for my mom to get me a No Fear tshirt so who am I to question it?

Social media

Not knocking these shirts at all, but in early middle school hou can tell who either has an older sibling or social media.

It is very gauche and a bit ghetto/trampy - surely you can see this, no?

You’re misusing the word “gauche”. Gauche means lacking social grace, sensitivity, or acuteness; awkward; crude; tactless:
Example; Their exquisite manners always make me feel gauche.

And trampy? No. Ghetto? No. It’s a kids hoodie.

NP. Have you seen the website? It hardly looks like they are marketing for kids. The models do look trampy: dark lip liner, lifting up the hoodie in a lot of pics, overly fake tanned, filler lips, provocative poses. I’d be concerned if my 10 yr old thought these were good looks

They are marketing to teenagers. Also they are oversized, not even cropped and cover every inch of the body so deciding that this is the item that’s trashy is kind of hilarious

The models are lifting the hoodies up exposing their stomach or even their backside in many of the pictures. Why?

Otherwise even these models would look like they are wearing potato bags

Coming from the other side of the world, honey.

No need for the tone.

Just looked it up. Are they cool because they are Australian or is there some other feature kids like?

They're cool b/c they're cool. Just like Guess Jeans used to be back in the day. Red Triangle forever.

They are demonstrating that if your boyfriend looks carefully, he will be able to find you inside the hoodie. /s
