Would you refuse to date someone based on their first name?

What is “overly ethnic,” OP? Sean Connery? Barack Obama? Dev Patel? Diego Luna?

Back in my single days I had a bit of a flirtation going with a guy named “Sascha”, which is a Russian nickname for Alexander. I’ll admit, it was a bit of a mental roadblock for me. I think things might have progressed further if he had been named “Jon” instead.

That's legit, imo.

Yes. I wouldn't marry a Harry Beaver (a real doc in Ffx) or Rusty Nail.

I married a POC with a very ethnic name. I love it! So unique and interesting.

Lotta racists outing themselves in the comments here lol.

I do not like my dh’s first name, never have and never will. I called him pet names and til this day do not call him by his actual name.

My friend Nimrod has been single for years. This could be why!

No wonder so many of you are utterly miserable if this is what matters to you.

Well you could always, you know, not change your last name

It's funny you say that because I went to an international school in Africa and they were a few Americans among us. As easy as you think American names sound we had so much trouble spelling them and found some of the names weird too.

My kids have similar backgrounds and think 2 very common names are hilarious

If I ever meet a woman who thinks like this imbecile I hope she tells me this nonsense. I'll dump her as fast as I can. You are truly one idiotic woman.

I know - to the point where I almost wish I had named my kids something ethnic as a screener

When I was a teenager, I was good friends with a kid named Sheldon. He was an athlete and not nerdy or anything. I still couldn’t date him because of his name, but I was also a dumb kid!

Wasn’t crazy about DH’s first name (beautiful last name though, was happy to take it!) but it’s not terrible either. Definitely not a showstopper.

My mom has the same name as my dad’s sister which I always thought was weird but he said it was never an issue. Go figure!
