| OP my daughter chose a school ranked in the mid 30’s over an ivy and couldn’t be happier. While parents are obviously involved with the college process, your child should be where she feels comfortable and welcomed. If family finances aren’t any issue (and they’re no other major issues), let your daughter take the lead. |
How does that lead to bankruptcy? |
Smithie alumna parent here. Glad your Smithie is enjoying her experience! Mine had ups and downs but in the end felt it was the perfect choice. |
| I never heard of Agnes Scott! That said, if your daughter doesn’t like the girls or vibe on the other campuses, that counts for something. And Mt. Holyoke is a great school and seems to have a strong alum network. |
| I loved Mt Holyoke when I was looking at colleges. I ended up getting into Yale and going there, but Holyoke was my second choice and I think I would have loved it. I have a few adult friends who went there and are big supporters, go back for reunions, etc. I have three sons so won’t send anybody to Mt Holyoke, but I wouldn’t be disappointed if my imaginary daughter ended up there. |
+1 … I liked Wellesley better than MH when I visited them but liked Bryn Mawr even more and went there (after NCS, for that matter). But all of them are good schools. There’s plenty of time, but if AS is still her favorite next year, it’s a great school! |
| Years ago, I was accepted to Wellesley, MTH, Bryn Marw and Smith…Picked Smith and really enjoyed my experience there. That said, there are more similarities than differences among these schools. So your daughter will be fine whatever she chooses. |

OP, do yourself a favor, pls look at their CDS once
ED: 19 applied, and 17 were admitted Out of state: 710 applied, 556 admitted and only 85 enrolled International: Only 7 out of 241 in first year AS endowment is $247.1 million Not sure, why you want to waste ED? What are the stats? |
If you’re sure you want to go somewhere and that place is easy to get into, just makes it even better. |
Forbes gives it its highest financial rating. https://www.forbes.com/sites/emmawhitford/2023/04/26/forbes-2023-college-financial-grades-the-strongest-and-weakest-colleges/?sh=6e5e9d601097 |
+1 exactly, thats the whole point of ED, isn't it? |
| I went to Wellesley and MHC was my 2nd choice. |
Thank you for posting this! |
| Mount Holyoke is a great place to get an education. What’s wrong with a friendly vibe on a beautiful campus, with an undergraduate focused faculty and the opportunity to expand your world with classes at the other colleges via free bus service? |
Yes it is. |
