I discovered at the last minute that my passport, which was still valid, had too little time on it for Europe. So, that counted as an emergency. I went on the Web on a Monday, booked an appointment on a Thursday morning (because of work considerations; could have booked an earlier slot), picked up the passport Friday afternoon, and flew out Sunday. I went in to the application review and pickup appointments early. I got in early for both appointments and was out before the official start time for both. The only negative was that the rule against bringing food in is super strict and I had to give a couple of packages of cookies away to passersby. But, if you live in Washington or another city with a good passport office, getting a passport through the emergency process is a great way to go. |
