What type of counselor would want this widely shared?

Not a HS counselor at Public or private, not a paid counselor…which ones?

Why wouldn’t a high school counselor want to share this? Generally they are in their job to help kids have access to opportunities.

My kid worked at a grocery store and played baseball.

Mine is mostly interested in video games. But he has to get a job this summer. I don't know if it's the best for college applications, but it will be an essential part of getting ready for life.

my kid worked at fast food type restaurant but with tips. He made a ton of money, learned to deal with crisis problems on the spot creatively, improved his ability to talk to adults, and got a bunch of free food. It was a total win-win And when he came home, we didn't pester him about the video game playing or staying up super late as they do.

A part-time job and writing essays so they are essentially complete by Labor Day.

We live in DC, so the Governors school is out- that’s only Va, right? Would love to do anything that isn’t ‘Pay to Play’. Having a hard time finding free summer opportunities.

Why not a summer job at a camp? My son did that for two years in high school and college.

That’s not what I was referring to. I meant more unique opportunities for one kid: a single internship or research oppty for one kid.

VOLUNTEERING IS FREE. I promise you a serious commitment to volunteering is just as good as any of these things. You don't have to start your own program - just do the work.
