Any smoking hotel rooms these days?

I love the smug moralizing on DCUM by the same moms who rhapsodize about their gummies and ignore the clouds of weed permeating every public space because "racism"

This smug mom doesn't use gummies and also hates the smell of weed as you said "permeating every public space". You should all just grown up and deal with life!

I think most hotels, especially most hotels that you would entertain booking a room with, are smoke free. To me this is progress. No judgement on smokers, but I grew up with parents that smoked and it was awful.

Do your parents lack the ability to find a hotel on their own?

You clearly do not have elderly parents. Yes, they do lack this ability. DP, not OP.

Elderly people are not capable of using a telephone? My goodness, this is news to me!

Several posters have said this already, but I'm another poster with a mother who, in fact, at 85 no long wants to make hotel reservations. She never learned how and then my dad died so here we are. Does this mean all people in their 80s are incapable of making a hotel reservation? No, of course not, but it is certainly true of some of them. If your parents are still fully managing paying their bills, making hotel reservations and planning vacations, well, consider yourself lucky.

That's fine, but the PP implied that elderly people are incapable of this, and some of us pointed out that yes, they are. Only some of them are incapable.

The VAST majority of them are incapable. Your snowflake parents are the exception.

I wonder how many posters on this thread claim to hate cigarette smoke (which I do) but still voted to legalize pot (which I didn’t).

Hypocritical.

My parents smoke and have long accepted the fact that they need to go OUTSIDE to smoke.

I wouldn't help them out, OP. If they can't tolerate walking a few yards outside of their hotel entrance to light up, I wouldn't want them visiting. They might light up inside your house!

What an ableist comment. My parents aren’t able bodied to do that which is why I’m asking for suggestions here, not judgement. Your welcome BTW for the physical sacrifices my parents made for your freedom to be a jerk on the internet during their years of military service.

I agree. But I wish the same thing was true for pets. I have a dog and we love her very much, but we don't bring her to hotels and I don't want to be around other people's dogs at hotels. Its gross and loud and annoying.

Same. And the worst is when family members want to bring pets on group vacations. We have to rent a crappy house that allows pets and constantly deal with their pet peeing on the carpet. Every vacation. So irritating.

PP you replied to. My smoking mother has Multiple Sclerosis and has serious mobility issues. My family counts a lot of veterans in its ranks.

I'd expect an apology, but I don't think you have it in you. Learn not to make assumptions on the internet.

The smoke doesn't leave with them. Even after a short visit, the smell (and associated carcinogens) remain in the walls, floors, and upholstery. This is why you are very unlikely to find a hotel that allows smoking. Maybe an Airbnb, but even that's a long shot.
