Rules for thee but not for me: Yellen SS shoot at criminal to protect cars

Anonymous wrote:This incident wasn't a carjacking, based on the news write-ups I saw, it was people trying to open unoccupied parked car doors to see if they were unlocked. So it was an attempted burglary or possibly attempted car theft.

Personally, I park one car in my driveway and one car on the street. It's possible someone might try to break into either of them while they're parked. And if anyone — law enforcement officer or otherwise — were to open fire at someone for trying to to break into my cars, I would be horrified. I'd hate to have my car stolen, but I absolutely don't want you shooting someone to prevent it from happening. I'll just deal with my insurance company after it's gone missing, thanks.

You deserve to have your cars stolen over and over again, until no one will insure you. That’s what you desperately need.

Such hypocrisy:

When can law abiding citizens in DC own guns and use them to protect themselves and their property, just like how politicians and non elected govt officials in DC are allowed to do?

Janet Yellen isn’t allowed to shoot anyone. Law enforcement is. Not rocket science.

You can right now. Nobody is stopping you. Not sure why the grand hyperbole and implication that you aren't allowed to own or defend your life if needed in DC.

Homeowner Jason Lewis was protecting both his property/car and himself when he shot at someone running towards him. He was convicted of manslaughter in October although his sentencing has been delayed until January.

"Nobody is stoppinig you" but you will be charged and convicted if you shoot to protect yourself in DC, if you are not a LEO.

WRONG

“Lewis is on video leaving his house, aiming and firing at two young people who were involved in breaking into cars. After Lewis fired at those two people, hitting the car that one was driving, Karon Blake then ran in Lewis’s direction and Lewis fired two shots into Karon’s left side, killing him.”
https://www.justice.gov/usao-dc/pr/guilty-verdict-man-who-killed-13-year-old-karon-blake

Rather than proving the point that you are trying (unsuccessfully) to make, the Jason Lewis example is exactly why random untrained civilians shouldn’t be carrying handguns around. Lewis ran outside of his home shooting first for no reason other than protecting property BEFORE the thief charged at him. That’s illegal period. Even for Secret Service.

Secret Service is highly trained and will follow the law regarding use of deadly force. That is why the SS is not being prosecuted for the shooting. The SS agent was assaulted/threatened before opening fire. They were NOT protecting property.

You guys should do some souk searching to find out why you have such blood lust. Defending property is not a moral reason to kill a human being. It’s sick and criminal to do otherwise.

That is an absolutely WILD mischaracterization of the facts of the Jason Lewis case.

https://www.wusa9.com/article/news/crime/karon-blake-case-jason-lewis-sentenced/65-de3fedac-d2cf-4eca-8305-09f59146830e

It absolutely IS NOT.

"Karon Blake then ran in Lewis’s direction and Lewis fired two shots into Karon’s left side, killing him." -- https://www.justice.gov/usao-dc/pr/guilty-verdict-man-who-killed-13-year-old-karon-blake

You can see the teen running full bore at Lewis in this video. Lewis stood at the end of his 10x10 foot brick patio, ie, his property, and shot at Blake as Blake ran toward him at full speed. The shot hit Blake mid-stride when he was within yards of Lewis' patio, however he had not yet reached the patio where Lewis stood. Evidently, a DC jury needs you to wait patiently until the young criminals cross the threshold of your home until you defend yourself.

https://www.fox5dc.com/video/1174695

Right, but first Mr. Lewis left the safety of his home in order to confront a group of kids who were allegedly trying car doors to either rifle the contents or steal them (not carjacking, FWIW). He had the opportunity to call the police from the safety of his home and did not. He chose an armed confrontation.

It's actually pretty common to be found guilty if you choose to arm yourself, choose to leave the safety of your home, and choose to engage in an altercation.

The fact that the kid was 13 only added to the baffling nature of Mr. Lewis's choice to leave his home to confront him.

So you should not go yell at teens breaking into your car at 3 am? Just watch and wait? Like a tumor?

The fact that the kid was 13 is why the jury convicted the homeowner. Not because of the facts.

He didn’t go outside to “yell at teens breaking into” his car he went outside and shot at the teenagers in a car. THEN he was charged by the 13 yo and he killed him claiming self defense. But shooting first is not self defense.

Technically, neither are LEOs. The reason the public is not raising a fuss, though, is because we're tired of the crime and are ready for LEOs to start shooting when someone tries to steal a car. DC is broken.

Are you just a bad person? Ss did not shoot to protect cars. He shot to protect himself after he confronted the car theives and they attacked him. You are crazy.

No you are deranged and just don’t understand that most people don’t want teenagers to die for stealing cars. That has been illegal for a long time. Even for cops.

The carjackings and trying to open cars is out of control. I’ve seen video of a group of car opener guys armed with a gun and aiming at someone’s house. I’m over it. If it takes secret service to finally put a stop to it so be it.

Would I have gone that way on the jury? It’s hard for me to say. I trust their judgment and the system of appeals if they really didn’t follow the law.

But ultimately, you can’t have people trying to do vigilante justice with guns. They will definitely kill more people by accident than they save or help.

I don’t think a homeowner going outside is the same as a law enforcement officer, on duty or not, but I’m sure this will get a full investigation.

We don’t have police.

I need to go to jury duty. A group of thugs is a threat in an of itself. Otherwise it would’ve been a solo mission.

You can’t run into the street with a loaded gun and then shoot at people. For good reason. You stay indoors and call the cops. Property isn’t worth dying for. Stay inside.

You are a violent and likely racist, fool. Normal and good people don’t think it’s a great idea to allow homeowners to run outside and fire shots at groups of teenagers in the middle of a highly populated area. I mean jesus christ wtf.
